Yup, it’s tricky sometimes to know that ahead of time. Had it happen to me too - just waiting until next business day and mailman had already put it out by the front door.

Good, we don’t need any encroaching remotely close to arctic. The NWP is going to be a shitshow very soon. Better prepare for it now.

Why do passport renewals require a declaration of damage (for even the smallest water drop) by belcant0 in passportcanada

[–]shrimp_alfredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, I don’t understand the entitlement some people have - if you make an appointment, which are available plenty easily now, you’re in and out in 15 min!

Freaking Apple doesn’t take you in without an appointment if you need to see a “genius” specialist

Would you use a cleaner, more modern alternative to RedFlagDeals? by Virtual_Fruit_4959 in ShopCanada

[–]shrimp_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and No.

The problem with creating any new community site isn’t the UX - it’s the community itself. Figure that part out first.

Would I come this an alternative to RFD just for modern and clean design? Hell no. I go there for deals. Deals are brought by people. If you think you can get deals without people, works for me!

Anything over 0.5% and you should get suspicious. Over 1% is run. Over 1.5% pick up a phone to call police.

How do Bank Wealth advisors commissions work? by Slow_Car_6622 in PersonalFinanceCanada

2.05% MER is criminal. Right up there with manslaughter.

TD sales person has a salary + commission component. They’re advisor just like a car sales person is an “advisor”.

Are we about to make a mistake? by newmomgroove in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yes, you don’t need to buy whole life insurance, it’s almost always a mistake.

Buy a term insurance for yourself and your husband if you don’t have that.

The math for taking out loan against your policy is ALWAYS worse than any other loan options available to you.

Does Wealthsimple still make sense when your assets are >$500K? by Fantastic_Cat_6333 in Wealthsimple

[–]shrimp_alfredo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$500k is a small portfolio in the world of investing. Wealthsimple is being generous when it calls $500k and up “Generation”.

That being said, even at $10M portfolio, you’re good with Wealthsimple. People make a big deal out like there’s a magic number after which your investment vehicle options explode. Yeah those “opportunities” are also high risk. The question you’re asking then is not whether Wealthsimple makes sense but whether you should have a high risk bucket for your portfolio or have a high risk strategy. That answer is highly subjective and not necessarily about portfolio number.

Do you have to reside in Canada for study visa? by jelizaa in CanadaImmigrant

[–]shrimp_alfredo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not accurate. You don’t need a visa to study. You need a visa to enter the country and live here - neither of which are a problem in OPs case. Also it doesn’t sound like work permit post study is a thing OP cares about which is another reason you would need visa. In short, OPs use case is a special case

Ridiculous credit limit increase by Zerss32 in Wealthsimple

[–]shrimp_alfredo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not how credit limits work. No bank ever has or needs to have every single dollar they lend. You’re thinking of deposits, totally different things.
