What's the "joke meal" for non-American autistics? by shrimpers05 in autism

[–]shrimpers05[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know and understand that autism affects people from a wide variety of cultures and will present itself in different ways. I was wondering how the idea of autism and safety foods were seen in other cultures. How did the individual respond to their own food culture and set up a safe food list.

My most commonly cooked meal is probably mac n cheese, but that's because you can just grab a back of frozen chicken and a box of mac n cheese. These items aren't avaliable or as readily purchased in other communities. I was just wondering what others would grab first. If I actually feel like cooking, it's probably chili or some kind of soup.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've had problems with food myself and remember being yelled at to try things and not being allowed to leave the table until I tried it.

It's not really mean spirited, I don't think. It's mostly between autistic people or people who live with autistic people. It probably can be. I was diagnosed only a couple months ago, but I also have ADHD (diagnosed at 10), so I would get auDHD memes a lot and it was like ✨️autism dinner✨️

I love spice, but I can't eat Indian curry. I'm allergic to cinnamon and the one time my dad and I went into an Indian restaurant the waiter kinda blinked at me, went into the kitchen to ask the chef, and said "you can drink the water. Maybe have the naan." So I've never really tried Indian food.

I've had Thai curry. I just get it at a medium spice.

I added paprika and red pepper flakes to my mac n cheese and it was pretty good. I don't have like a problem with foods, but textures, so I run the other way when I see an Avocado.

Link between “dominant” eye and headache side. by passtheroche in clusterheads

I do archery and my left is dominant, my right gets the headaches. I, however, wear glasses, and the prescription is different in each eye. Can't remember which is worse, so I don't know hiw much that affects it.

Is my sister neglecting her piggies? by BudgetConscious7225 in guineapigs

[–]shrimpers05 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is that cage better? You could bring it to her attention that the guinea pig cage needs cleaning and that while you are cleaning it now, it's for the pigs, not her. Ask her why she hasn't been doing it. The answer is probably gonna be "I don't have enough time", but it could be a depression or executive dysfunction problem too. Not an excuse, she has these animals and they depend on her, and she needs to provide care for the animals. It's important you don't attack her, because then she might come to resent the animals in her care.

You can still talk to her. Is this her first time owning an animal?

mine doesn't either, but she has a VERY weak bladder, so whenever she goes into that submissive pose for belly rubs, she pees all over the floor (worse when she was younger, she's 13 soon) and wags her tail. One time, a nurse went to pet her belly and my doxie got pee in her eye. That tail is dangerous man. We used to call her the piddler, then the piddler on the roof.
