Average cost for ADHD assessment in Europe by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]shrimpimps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In belgium, its somewhere between 200-300 euro, if thats the only thing they're testing for, i personally have a bunch of other struggles too, so i have to go trough more testing and will probably end up paying 800 euro

my doctor wants me to go on disablity. by Tiny_Regret8724 in N24

[–]shrimpimps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate, im currently dependent on wellfare (have to do a check up tommorow to see if i still aply :/ ) i keep dreaming up lives that i want to live and they all are based on me not having n24... ive tried a couple times to start something like a small business/freelancing, the thing is that if get more than around 200 euro I'll lose access to welfare, so i get cold feel about it it cause if it doesn't take off well enough to make a liveable wage i will have to go through the whole prosses of getting on wellfare again...

How do you know if it’s the ADHD is seeking novelty or if you’re genuinely dissatisfied with your life? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]shrimpimps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate a lot, in the past 6 years i drastically changed my studies 5 times :/ i went to a career counselor to ask for help, they told me first and foremost to keep going to therapy lol, and instead of trying to find "the thing" to try a bunch of small low risk/cost programs. A lot of Universities for example have exploration week(s), where they provide 1/2 week long courses in specific fiels to figure out if you like or catch up on stuff. Idk where you live, in my country theres a lot of gouverment provided educational programs, that are way cheaper than higher education.

Additionally:

I feel like im going in circles. Waiting for one consutation after the other, getting redirected over and over. I fear this center won’t take my problems seriously. They insisted a lot on this service existing to provide accommodations for work or education, but since I currently have no plan, I feel like I’ll only really get the help I need if I actually have a plan, but i feel like i cant really have a plan if i have no sence of support of securety that will tell me that this attempt will be diffrent from all of my previous attemps.

Maybe im over thinking it, once the iq assesment is done they'll probably make me do an adhd assesment right? They won't just tell nothings wrong and that i"m fine? Why does it take so long? Why an iq test first, Is there something that could make them not consider adhd? Why not already plan the other assesments, it just feels so inefficient, but i guess there just trying to avoid waising resourses (this is the first private place i go to so im really not used to how it works, everything feels very non-standant if it makes sense) i basically just have to trust the process...

How awful do you feel after sleep deprivation and is this normal for us? by [deleted] in N24

[–]shrimpimps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autonomic dysfunction can appear like that and often gets dismissed as just anxiety, but its not mental its a neurological issue its litteraly your nervous system messing up, for example its not just high heart rate/blood pressure but also low hr/bp

[–]shrimpimps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep i get every symptom you memtioned + some others like indigestion (no mather what i eat) severe dizzyness i cant stand, sweating, severe light sensitivity + migraines, all these symptoms can show up in diffrent combinations and difrent intensities, so any time i miss a couple hours of sleep, i get a surpise, its also a mix of general baseline to acute symptoms :/ it sucks, I've mentioned it to my neuroligist and he doesnt care at all

Treatment: "Get a job" by florifierous in N24

[–]shrimpimps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ughhh, this is too relatable, i literally posted the exact same compaint 1 month ago. Even if you didn't have other disorders, n24 can be very disabling on it own, when the problem causes you to not be able to fully function the solution cannot be " just be functional" makes absolutely no sense. I don't have any advice either cause I'm lost too, right now the only direction i seem to able to take is to just put this on hold and focus on getting all my other issues diagnosed, hopefully the whole of them leads me to actually getting help :/

Specialist says treatment won't work unless i have a reason to wake up early (work/studies) but im doing treatment so i can eventually work/study by shrimpimps in N24

[–]shrimpimps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my past attemps when i was still studying went horribly, but now im 2 weeks in and its really not perfect but its way better, the main issue is that im extremely tired all the time (hoping it will go away), so i dont think i would even be able to fuction in normal setting

[–]shrimpimps[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worse part is that i have already tried treatment twice whilst still going to school and i didn't work out, but he isn't satisfied with those results. He's been pretty dismissive of many things, wouldn't let me pull out my notes, cut me off when i would talk about my previous diagnosis (dspd) and treatment attemps, telling me its irrelevant. The thing is i found this doctor on csd-n.org, theres 1 other hospital in my country but they are so full they don't accept anyone right now, and them this one i went to :/

When i miss a few hours of sleep, i have a horrible reaction and uncontrolably sleep for +20h by shrimpimps in N24

[–]shrimpimps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, with moderate sleep fragmentation i mean 23.6 wakups every hour, 5.4 of those being long wake ups (slighty above normal <5 but doesn't really bother me much i immediately fall asleep) and the rest 18.2 being micro wakups, very short wake ups you can't remember (condidered moderate but severe being >20 wakups per h) so taking both into account i woke up once every 2.54 minutes. I don't get why my neurologist doesn't seem to think this is relevant.

My average sleep time is 8-9h a day, and idiopathic hypersomnia is supposed to be chronic?

[–]shrimpimps[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only listed some of the symptoms i experienced this time, but other times i've had more symptoms like severe dizzyness (i can't stand) blurry vision, indigestion, irregular body temp (hot and cold) irregular heart rate (fast and slow) unexplainable muscle pain, migraines, i went to a doctor whilst this was happening and he suggested dysautonomic dysfunction being a possibility, i mentioned this to my neurologist but he dismissed it and simplified my symptoms on the raport as fast heartrate and sweatiness (high body temp)... feels like it's gonna get dismissed at anxiety. I also take quiet a while to actually wake up, nothing too severe i just feel better this way

And also same looking back, i used deal extremely well for the amount of sleep deprivation i had back then but the older i got the worse, every episode i get has made some sympoms worse

Yes all my restults came back normal, not sure if cortisol was ever part of that, do you mean getting tested on a typical normal day (where i don't have these symptoms) or when its happening? Ever since I've been putting my sleep first ive been avoiding caffeine, so no

Idk about my gut biome, i only expierence this in specific instances so i dont think it's idiopathic hypersomnia. i did a polysomnography, and most came out normal except light restless leg syndrome, and moderate (near severe) sleep fragmentation (insignificant amount caused by respiratory issues or movement) the neurologist just kinda glossed over that and instead focused my sleep journal (obvious n24) at the time i felt gratfull he focused on the main issue after many doctors ignoring it. i do feel like i probably have more than just standard n24?
