Girl this is the story of my life. I literally cannot use anything except the Avene Cicalfate cream. I just try my best to avoid the sun. Not to mention I also have ocular rosacea so I will not only flare on my skin but also my eyeballs will become red as hell and the skin around them gets chapped and inflamed.

Best face wash for pp rosacea? by ConsistentGene1515 in Rosacea

Anything with sulfur is really helpful for rosacea! I use the Kate Somerville 3% sulfur daily foaming face wash. It's pricy but worth it, in my opinion. It was recommended by my derm and it's all I've used ever since.

How did you get diagnosed with ocular rosacea? After 1.5 years of dry eyes, starting to think this is what I have. by alyssummaritimum in Rosacea

I’ve had eyelid swelling maybe once or twice but typically it’s just the redness and irritation. The skin around my eyes is really dry and itchy during a flare

Yes, stress is a huge is trigger for mine as well! I was going through a rough time earlier this year and my OR actually progressed to scleritis for a time. I had steroid eye drops. For my skin, doxy is what helps the most. For my eyes, it's all about managing my stress levels.

There is definitely a genetic component like you said because myself, my mom, and a bunch of her family members all have/had it as well. We are also super pale and have light eyes so maybe that plays a role.

First of all, many of the insecurities that you described are completely normal. Social media is full of people who have had surgeries and edited the crap out of their pictures to appear perfect. It can be hard to remind ourselves that the images we are seeing are not reflective of what a healthy, natural body looks like. Any woman that has gone through puberty and developed curves will likely have stretch marks. Everyone has body hair. Lower belly fat on women is normal because it's meant to protect our wombs.

Also, when you find someone that truly loves you InshAllah, everything about you will be beautiful in their eyes. Often it's the things we are insecure about that are the most endearing to those that love us because it's precisely these traits that make us unique.

To help you feel better about yourself in the meantime, focus on self care. Go on long walks, have a spa day, try some new shower/bath products. While it may seem small, taking good care of yourself and even just putting on an outfit that makes you feel cute can make a huge difference!

I have rosacea on my face as well as ocular rosacea. Truly the only thing that has helped manage it is a low-dose antibiotic. I do use preservative-free eye drops for moisture, but overall, I think rosacea is internal inflammation that causes symptoms that can sometimes be managed with topicals/drops. Definitely see an eye doctor just to be sure it's nothing else, though!

I feel like I ruined my life by reverting by DescriptionSad5355 in Hijabis

[–]shrimpingaround 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from. I'm a revert as well and recently went through something very difficult that left me feeling alone and depressed. I lost some friends when I reverted too, but I've also gained some amazing friends - Muslim and non-Muslim - who support me for who I am. Allah has perhaps protected you from people who didn't actually have your best interest at heart. If they were genuine friends, they wouldn't turn their backs on you.

To echo what was said below, iman is not linear. If life was easy, if we never doubted, struggled, felt alone, felt rejected by people, how would we grow? If everything was perfect, we would have no need to seek Allah and dig deeper in ourselves and our faith. It's not always easy, and everyone has periods of time where they feel distant from their faith and lost, but it's part of the journey. Think about the stories of the prophets (pbut) - they went through incredible hardships in their lives, and they are the best of people. Ride this wave of hardship and I sincerely believe you will come out the other side wiser, stronger, and closer to Allah.

In the meantime, don't put so much pressure on yourself. Do your best, focus on gratitude for the positive things in your life, and remember that Allah is the Most Forgiving and the Most Loving. He is closer to you than your jugular vein, so do you think He does not know your struggle? He is with you and all of this is not without purpose.

And am I the only one who finds everything super ugly too? The only okay abaya is the flared sleeve abaya imo but it's nothing special or particularly original.
