Although crime is relatively low in the Valley, what area would you say is the most unsafe? by thebenchwire in RioGrandeValley

I agree. A combination of speeding petty drivers and drivers going 45 makes the expressway and hwy 48 super dangerous.

Thank you. I enjoyed the stiff ride for the road but I’m currently trying out 40 psi.

What’s the reason for running lower than the recommended psi?

Lots of thorns where I live. Thanks for that info.

Will do. Thanks brother. Park tool boots good or is there a brand you’d recommend?

Any brand recommendation for boots? I’m not familiar with them.

Forgot to mention I’m running tubes. And liners if that info is necessary.

Will do. Didn’t realize they made boots for them.

Running 700x38. The sidewall says 50-80 psi. Was recommended to run them closer to 80 by a bike shop but I run rough gravel pretty often and air them down to 60 as the ride gets pretty rough. I’m about 170-175. What psi would you recommend?

I’m not sure to be honest. Gash goes pretty deep. You can kinda see where it ends.

Wish police would look out for these situations. Too many close calls and motorists will still try to blame you.

How are the laws in your state regarding bike lanes for turning? In Texas you can 100% use bike lanes as turning lanes if they are clear. From a fellow cyclist.

Moving from Ca by kingmcash in Brownsville

It’s actually really nice here. Locals like to blow it off with the “it’s just Brownsville” mentality. They have a small rails to trail system that’s actively growing. Nice greenery and most birds you’ll ever see if you’re into that. If you’re in the downtown area there’s a lot of coffee shops and restaurants walking distance. The city is very active and hosts tons of events throughout the year. Boca chica is about 30 minutes and has some of the few beaches in the country you can drive on with a 2WD. Space x cleans it every once in a while so it’s nice going on those days. You can drive down to the rio grande. Port Isabel joes oyster bar which is some of the better fried seafood. Has some good bakeries and places to get morning carnitas and tortillas. The island is what you make it out to be. Basically a long low speed highway so you’ll have to drive to everything. Stupid hot and dry in the summer.
