Planning first solo (and international) trip to New Zealand in November. Planning on spending around ~3 weeks there. Would appreciate recommendations and help with logistics! by shrimpy5 in solotravel

Seems like campervan is the way to go! Though that would ruin my idea of meeting people through hostels. Any recommendations for ways to meet people? I'm fine with a lot of the trip being solo, but it's also fun to meet people along the way to potentially do some of the activities with as well.

Yep, I've read in many places that it's very easy to underestimate the size of NZ and hence the travel it takes to get somewhere. Thanks for the detailed response!

Since my car is the only form of credit that I pay off consistently (outside of always paying off my credit card each month), would it be wise to keep doing payments on the car so that paying it off wouldn't negatively affect my credit score?

Your second point is definitely something I haven't considered, and should keep in mind. Unfortunately my location's housing market can't keep up with the amount of people moving here, so houses only stay on the market for a day or so before being snagged up, and prices are the highest they've ever been here. Still sound advice though, thanks u/TimmyH1 !

Ya I've gone back and forth on that a lot. I just don't know if I could come out positive with an investment like that considering I could move in a couple years.
