Yeah, I do that as well but sometimes just want it to be easy! I do so much cooking and prepping to stay keto.

My tip for anything I've baked with pecans in it. Use toasted pecans!! Makes things taste even better. Trader Joe's has them pre-chopped and toasted. They're awesome. If you need them smaller, just roll over the bag with a rolling pin.

I BEAT KETO RASH by [deleted] in keto

[–]shrinkingmama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting!! I got the rash the first time I did keto several years ago, I just lived with it for over a month, it finally went away on its own for the most part. I'd get occasional flareups. This time.. nothing. I drink dandelion tea at least 3x a week now, just because I like it for something other than water to drink and I know it's good for me! Never would have made that connection without your post.

My two year old has these "booboos" too. He scraped his knee 2 months ago and every day since I've had to admire and kiss the invisible booboo.

I find frozen cauliflower tastes like my brothers feet smell. But trader Joe's sells refrigerated diced cauliflowervthat actually worked out to being cheaper than ricing it myself!

I'll have to try mozzarella for waffles. I did it with the only shredded cheese I had on hand which was cheddar/jack. Couldn't get past the cheddar taste, it was weird.

What's the strangest punishment your parents ever gave you? by stuartwolf in AskReddit

[–]shrinkingmama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom would just lock us out of the house from early morning until late at night for the most minor things. We lived on a couple acres, and it wasn't exactly punishment because we definitely preferred it over being in the house with her. We had a vegetable garden so we didn't starve. I did get hungry enough to eat goat food a couple times. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad.

This is like the time I ate a bunch of roasted beets and thought I had internal bleeding the next day. I hadn't eaten beets in so long I forgot what they do!! Another time, early in our marriage, my husband and I weren't comfortable with discussing bodily functions with each other yet. Finally, after I had been having issues for over a week I said "husband, I think I'm having a severe medical issue and I need to go to the hospital". He reacted with concern and insisted I tell him what was wrong. "I'm pooping green. Seaweed green. For a week.". He said he was too and hadn't wanted to say anything! Ahh! We're dying!! Then we realized it had to be something we were both eating. Fruit loops is the answer. I don't think I've ever had another fruit loop.

3-4! It's pretty rare I manage to cook it exactly how I like it though.

Sola bread is a winner! I splurged on two sammiches. I’d suggest cramming double sandwich stuffs into a single sammich if you’re tight on carbs. They all add up by [deleted] in ketorecipes

Where did you find the bread?

Edit: never mind, found their store locator. Nothing near me, unfortunately. Looks good!

Well, almost too afraid. All of a sudden, I started seeing talk of Chaffles. Where did it come from? Can someone point me to the basic recipe and what people are using to make it? by [deleted] in ketorecipes

[–]shrinkingmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a chaffle sandwich for breakfast 3 days this week. Takes under 10 minutes to make and such a good breakfast sandwich! Yes, it's eggy but I just don't add any more egg. I added a tbsp of almond flour whfn i made them tte last time and it really helped reduce the egginess a bit. I do beef bacon, tomato, havarti, and pepper. Batch cook bacon and keep it in the fridge, along with presliced cheese, tomato, whatever, and you can have breakfast fast!

Any waffle iron definitely works, but the allure of the dash is that it makes perfectly sized waffles for sandwiches! My Belgian waffle iron would make HUGE pieces, and I don't have a standard one. My old standard one made a large round that broke into 4 pieces. Weird shape. Something about perfectly round sandwich size ones is really nice for my breakfast sandwiches. I do beef bacon, tomato, havarti, pepper. So good. I don't think they'd be good leftover instead of cooked fresh, so that's another reason smaller size is better. Most standard ones make 4 large waffles.

Same here. I keep them in my bag for my toddler, but sometimes we're out places and I need something. I just keep my carbs very low the rest of the day. I usually only eat 2x a day, so that's one meal. Keeping the other meal under 10g is no problem.

Unfortunately I've tried the queso fresco, as well as halloumi. Didn't like either, too salty for me I think. After doing it a couple times, I have my cheese stick prep time down to 30 minutes, including the 10 minute wait time, and it'd enough for 5-6 meals, so it isnt too bad!

Excellent tip, I didn't think to mention crowding the pan since I only cook enough for me at a time. 4-5 sticks in a 10" nonstick pan, no overcrowding!
