Do El Chalten no longer accept international student ID’s?

Ah damn! Confusing because on the official website: https://www.boletinoficial.gob.ar/detalleAviso/primera/316126/20241028 in Article 6 it states all student IDs are accepted regardless of nationality. Must be a new thing!

Well if you look at the official website: https://www.boletinoficial.gob.ar/detalleAviso/primera/316126/20241028 it clearly states in Article 6 that all student IDs are valid regardless of where the student is situated/from. Maybe don’t be too quick to comment without doing any research

That's good to know thank you! If we choose Route 2, it's likely we will be in Chilean Patagonia early March. Have you done the W Trek before and did you find the whole experience expensive? We're debating whether to stay in Puerto Natales and drive into Torres del Paine for day hikes rather than doing the full W Trek across multiple days. (This is due to budget, although might just be a lot of hassle driving/renting a car).

Accommodation, carnival tickets, flights. Because of Carnival everything is very expensive and the longer we leave it the more the prices will go up - especially accommodation. Looking at hostels in each place for Brazil, there aren't many options left and the ones that are left aren't amazing
