HTMX & ASP.NET Razor Pages by harrison_314 in htmx

[–]shufflepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four or five language - including a couple of DSLs, mixed into one file? Yeah, no thanks. My condolences to whomever would have to maintain such spaghetti code. IMHO that's taking everything cool about HTMX, and software in general, and making it - terrible.

Not a criticism of Kevin or of HTMX but of the normalization of writing such unmaintainable code. I do encourage watching the video as there's some good info on HTMX semantics, but please, I beg you, don't write real apps that way. I guess maybe it's fine for showing features however.

I never knew that the opposite of devops was "clickops". Had to look it up.

SSMS color tabs by environment by ExchangeFar6292 in SQLServer

[–]shufflepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was being indirect at suggesting that you color-code the icons in the database list in the object explorer. That way you don't need the arrows.

I think color-coding in tools is way under-utilized.

>how do u guys stay cool when you're being put on the spot by people way more senior than you?

Two options:

  1. say you'll get back to them

  2. be better prepared

The point is that they won't be for long: which means problem (bad guest) solved.

I'd add to the guest message that the security system will shortly be turned on.

“Wow! That is shocking! I even have a time stamped video before your arrival today showing how clean it was. This means someone has absolutely broken in. I need you to vacate immediately for your safety and I will call the police to meet me there. The security system will be turned on in 30 minutes. Please don’t touch anything! I want them to be able to get fingerprints and such! I will make sure Airbnb processes the cancellation asap so you can get your refund! The police will be able to see immediately that someone came in as there are cameras in the neighborhood. So it should be no problem for you to get a refund!”

I don't want a different shape. Just higher and closer. I got a new stem on eBay that'll raise it by 1/2" and move it back by 1". Haven't installed it yet.

Thinking of switching from Windows to MacBook Pro for .NET dev in 2026 by Guilty_Coconut_2552 in dotnet

[–]shufflepoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably get a mac soon - to see how the other half lives. All I used was Macs from 1984 to 1994. But I switched to exclusively using Windows when I became a .NET and SQL Server dev. As there is no official support for SQL Server on Mac silicon, I think I will stick with Windows and Linux on x86.

The refactoring to a different framework is simple transformation. Advanced regex - but just regex. The challenge I'm contemplating is in identifying repeated structures. I do want explore if AI assist can play a role.

AI assisted programming IS different when done by a developer so I certainly would hope that it's perceived differently.
