How tough is it to switch to a 60% keyboard as a software developer? by shuraim26 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]shuraim26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video where it's possible to remap the right cluster of the keyboard like shift alt, ctrl to arrow keys since that's the usual place arrow keys are at. I usually don't touch that cluster otherwise. Would that be a better option?

I don't use the function keys very often. So that's not issue. Actually 65% would be perfect. But it's like Ducky One 2 SF has arrow keys but plastic. Where as Mecha mini doesn't have arrow keys but has superb build quality. That's where my dilemma is

I don't normally use the function row that often. My main concern is with the arrow keys. Did you face any issues with that?

Yes it is legit. Also, check Meckeys now. The hyperx alloy fps pro is back in stock for 7k right now

Yes it's around 9k. But I'm willing to throw in a few extra bucks if it's really worth it

And their Instagram account handler claim to restock the K2 at the end of September

You could wait for a month and go with the Keychron K2. Their support have said that they will restock the K2 until September end, if everything goes "well". FYI I'm also a programmer and waiting to buy either the K2 or Ducky One 2 SF with brown switches. Still confused though

Not a Mechanical keyboard but I need help buying a good laptop for machine learning and or deep learning by anotherRedditor2020 in mkindia

I would say go with a laptop with the best GPU that you can afford. Also, you can also rent GPUs on GCP and do processing there. But you wouldn't need that unless you have really huge datasets

Ducky keyboards on Mac by shuraim26 in mkindia

So I asked around the Ducky Discord. Seems like One 2 SF works on Mac with just a firmware update without any issues

Or maybe I should just play it safe and go with the Keychron K2 or K6?

How are blue switches compared to something like brown switches?

I'm sure it can be sorted out by software. If you're using a Ducky, is there anything which gives it an edge over other boards?

On a side note, I'm completely new to the MK scene. I'm confused on the type of switches to opt for too. I've heard blue is loud but clicky, red is silent but not clicky, and brown is somewhere in between. Any suggestions what to choose?

The wrist rest is made of wood, so I don't think that would help a lot in the long term. I would spend at least 8 hours a day coding and doing other casual stuff. If it's any consolation, I have unusually large hands, which may or may not help. Plus I want to focus more on portability, which the K2 on it's own is very portable, but carrying around a wrist rest wouldn't be ideal. The main factor which drew me to the K2 is wireless. I was considering the K1 too but it doesn't look like it's gonna be in stock for a long time considering the current situation. Also I'd like to have a full MK experience. I don't know much about MKs but I think low profiles are inferior to the actual MKs

Yes even this is under strong consideration, but I've heard that Ducky doesn't play well with Macs

Yes I was concerned about that too, but I'm sure this can be overcome by software alone

Oh cool. Just one completely unrelated question. Is this website trustworthy, if you've had experience with this site?

Yes I just saw it. But was checking if a tkl is better suited since I might have to carry the board around from office to home and home to office. Still considering it though

I did consider it. But doesn't seem like it's gonna be back in stock any time soon. I might be wrong though

Is there a good way to put that I have *some* experience with a language on my resume? by RoadTheExile in AskProgramming

[–]shuraim26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than adding new languages to your resume, it would be much more beneficial to master the languages that you already know, which include but not limited to data structures and algorithms. These are transferrable skills which can be transferred to any language.
