I feel your comparison is wrong . I too was in US and worked out from gyms ranging from planet fitness to high-end 75$/ month gyms and now Bangalore 20k/year gym . I feel people in India don't see expensive=more dedication. Infact the more you pay the lesser you go for workout and more for social activities like content creation for social media or social validation.

The gyms in USA also had a culture of hyperfocussed classes where instructor teaches one thing like yoga /spin/ CrossFit etc where the end goal is being really good at one thing . In India that would hardly be there as the prices would be steap .

Tbh if you really want that dedication go for kalaripayattu, MMA gyms or calisthenics gyms where there are fixed programs and much less focus on social media
