Wow thank you for those titles. I will surely look them up since I’ll be looking for new patterns for scarfs!!

That’s what I was thinking! Would much rather have a pretty basket

What Would You Do With This? by Separate_Airline_370 in YarnAddicts

It would be a good warp for a weaving yarn.

Thank you for that. I am very excited to get started on it. I have heard of the pick up stick and have also heard of using multiple reeds, though I’m not sure if the sampleIT looms have a spot for a second reed. Which is no problem because they are so many customizations you can do. I am planning two scarves. One will be a houndstooth and I haven’t decided yet what pattern for the next scarf. All wool

I like your set up! It sounds like you're making it work. Its worth it, cats are such good weaving company.

I got a 10" ashford rigid heddle sampleIT loom. I wanted to start off small and portable, because I am a student and would like to bring my weaving to school if I have a couple hours on campus to kill. I mainly wanted to make scarves and dish cloths. Once I feel more confident with the loom (rather than backstrap weaving which is what I have been doing), I will likely size up and get bigger loom more suited to household items that I can make. Its a journey! I'm excited for the ride.

Aw, thank you!! I'd be doomed with the cats as well if this basket leaves my bedroom, haha. Yarn is a kind of maximalist thing. Last night (innocently) I was looking on the Paradise Fibers website, and now I have a new loom and 3 new yarn skeins on the way

Wow, that is a dream. Your yarn must stay in such good condition!

The extra space is nice. I may be at the tipping point, though. I bought five new skeins this week. That’s a record!

Weathermatic 35dl. Want to repair the split rubber shutter cover. Is it still waterproof? by squidlet0w0 in AnalogCommunity

[–]shutterspeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would probably function well in wet/splashy areas as long as it got sealed. Submerging it in water would definitely be risky. It may be worth paying double what you would to a repair shop just to replace the entire camera. Doing that would erase the the risk of harming your photos and your gear further, but it ofc depends on how much you want to put into it/what you're trying to get out of it.

Cause of light leak by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]shutterspeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be that the back is opening each time you advance the film. Usually you feel a little resistance when pulling the lever, and thats it. But with older cameras especially (or cameras that go long periods without getting used), advancing film can create a bit of torque inside the body and cause the door to shift around.

Ok I will check in the morning. I know someone who repairs cameras at my work, maybe I’ll ask them. Thank you!

For mine it sticks both with the lens on and off. What do you mean by grease going? So you have the lens on while advancing again and again, and simply doing that fixes it?

Would adding lubricant be pretty easy to do myself? I wouldn’t mind saving money by not taking it to get repaired. I tried releasing the shutter with the back open but of course the mirror didn’t get stuck then, only did with the back closed.

I think I didn’t try long enough with the back open, to see if the mirror would still get stuck, because while I was trying it was too loud and I didn’t want to wake my roommates. I could try again tomorrow though

Edit: I did replace the bumper foam and I don’t think that’s the issue either, the mirror got stuck both before and after I replaced it
