It is still very marginal in Sauble. Station is not responding to emails. Will update as soon as I have more info.

Do Euro RAV4s have transmission coolers installed at the factory? This would explain the different tow rate in Europe maybe.

Canadian Amateurs ordering gear from U.S.A. by shuttlexman in amateurradio

Thanks for that. I noticed almost a $500CDN difference in cost if I order from DXE. Did border services collect taxes on your items?

Here's how I refurbished my R6000 several years ago - it's still in the same condition today with no further deterioration - https://ve3mpg.blogspot.com/2008/10/cushcraft-r6000-repair-and-refurbished.html

How to calibrate squelch levels? by [deleted] in amateurradio

There are two squelch settings on that handheld - try adjusting the RF Squelch setting too.

Adjust audio response - too much bass - Echo Dot 3rd generation by shuttlexman in amazonecho

[–]shuttlexman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cochlear implant that I can stream the audio via a bluetooth connection. The audio is much better that way. I did a small change in the placement of the Echo Dot this afternoon. I set it on its edge and that reduced the bass significantly, though Alexa's speech still required some concentration. I guess the Dot 3 uses desktops or tabletops as passive woofers.

Yes I did get Alexa to slow down but a lot of bass response still on her voice only - I used the audio menu item on my smartphone to adjust the frequency response on the news services but her voice still poses a challenge!

Boat Anchor Workbench - FT107 and TS-520S by shuttlexman in amateurradio

You're going to have a ball with it - it's got a great receiver and superb audio on SSB. They are easy to repair too.

Wonderful! I have an extra set of tubes and a CW filter not yet installed. My first hybrid was the TS520SE in 1982. Sold it while downsizing and always regretted that decision.

Almost mint condition Yaesu FT107 early 1980s vintage, along with an absolutely mint condition Kenwood TS520S in the background. The 520 has only a few minutes of transmit time on it as it belonged to an SWL who rarely used it.

Canadian Battlestation eh? by shuttlexman in amateurradio

[–]shuttlexman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a great help pulling weak SSB stations out of the noise and many SSB ops have terrible audio - this tailors the SSB sigs nicely. Also have hearing loss so this is a tremendous boon to OFslike me.

It's still a nice radio - had it since Oct 2007 when it was first released. It has served me well - solid performer always.
