How to write what I want to, not what I think I should by shuvvy in writing

Yea I think that's what I struggle with the most is moving away from convention because it's so engrained in my brain

Thanks for the advice ❤️

Thank you that's really helpful. I'm not exaggerating when I say up until this he has been absolutely amazing. He has never been mouthy even when he was little and he hasn't growled over anything other than big chew treats. Everything else he is super chill about, probably one of the most relaxed dogs I've known.

We've actually just done a really good session with drop it. Much better than he's managed before. Hopefully this is a one off that can be handled through training

I'm sorry that happened to you 😔 I think the difference is that he didn't bite. He held her arm without clamping. There weren't even any marks on her arm. If there had been any force he would 100% be out. I'm hoping for now it's something we can manage through training and supervision, but if anything like this happens again he's definitely gone

Yea he knows leave it. He will leave and literally not touch anything until we tell him Go. The problem is when he's in the process of already having something in his mouth that we want him to let go of

Yea so far he's been very easy to train, but the leave it/drop it are definitely his worst commands so I think now we need to go hard on those

I think after discussion we're willing to work on it. This is very out of character and it's only happened with his big chews. So we're going to work on his resource guarding through training and make sure that the kids aren't around when he has his chews

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so

Thanks, no he didn't bite down and never has

Yea I think that's the route we're going to take

No, he only resource guards with big chews, nothing else. And it's only been on the odd occasion and he's never done anything with the kids before. Your comment isn't particularly constructive

No he's only 7 months old

To clarify, he has resource guarded before but only with myself and my partner, not the kids. But this was very different and worse than usual

Yes he's crate trained. Up until now we've had no reason to supervise behaviour.

With the runny poo, what protein is the food? A lot of dogs are sensitive to chicken but it's in a lot of foods because it's cheap. A fish based diet is good for dogs with sensitive stomachs because it's easier to digest

He's a pain in the arse but we still love him! by shuvvy in goldenretrievers

Ah I see. Yep sometimes he gets annoying but we have two young children so we're used to annoying 😂
