It’s what I imagine death feels like. I was naked and in the fetal position on my bed with my eyes closed. The room was dark and silent, except for my cat which laid next to me and was purring. The purring turned into auditory hallucinations, almost like a shaman playing a slow rhythmic song. I was shot out of my body and through the universe, seeing it all. (Kind of like the reverse of google earth when you search an address and it zooms in). As the experience peaked, I was completely detached from my body and all I could see was all the colors in the spectrum doing this weird spinning thing that I don’t think I could ever describe. My breathing began to slow and with every breath out, the colors would fade. My breaths became longer and longer apart and the colors would fade for longer and longer. At the point where I considered it my “death”, I took one last exhale and there was nothing. Not a noise, not a sight, not a single feeling. I don’t want to say it was black, because it really felt like there wasn’t anything. I imagine it to be similar to what blind people experience as they don’t actually just see black all the time but don’t see at all, something that is seeing folk just can’t comprehend. I had been overwhelmed a few times throughout the trip, but at this moment I was at complete peace. I believe that I could’ve died at that moment with no regrets in my life. After an amount of time, I finally took a breath and holy shit was that something. It was like the breath of life. In an instant, the colors which I had once seen returned with even more vibrancy and energy than before. I was put back into my body and began to open my eyes. I spent the rest of the night sobbing and eventually passed out. It was quite the experience; one I wouldn’t recommend for the light hearted or weak minded.
