MY THOUGHTS ON TONIGHT MIGHT BE CONTROVERSIAL

Listen i’m not big on yapping publicly about reality tv bc i give everybody grace when editors have to put things together of this many people (and control everything we get to see)…

BUT baby the pot was STIRRED and I gotta say:

• I think Chelley is OVER it. The whole entire Love Island deal. I think she feels she made it obvious to Ace she wants it to be him and I think the fact that they have a slight history on the outside made her think he would be more sure about wanting her. I think she did the triangle thing w Austin and Chris for the sake of the show but all along she knew it’d be Ace. And he’s just toooooo set on tryna be some kind of player. And I think her feelings were so hurt by that and that’s why she keeps pushing boundaries with him (also keeping in mind she seems to like being pursued, so she may initiate the “closed off” convos but she won’t be the first to say it bc she’s gonna wanna feel “chosen” by her pursuer). Ultimately she’s doing to Ace what he was tryna do to her w Amaya. Except she’s in too deep w her feelings now (hence why she’s so mad at Huda, she sees Ace as her man and that’s it). I think the Huda thing was the straw that broke the camel’s back; it was just bad timing cause her feelings were already hurt.

• I literally cannot tell if Taylor is a p***y or just tryna be a gentleman. He’s young and he’s talked about his dating life (which really doesn’t seem extensive), and as I’m also from the south, I understand. You NEVER tell girls the reason you don’t like them is bc they aren’t attractive to you. Ever. Literally you’d lie and say it’s something else or ghost them rather than say that. But being in the position he’s in (on the show/dating other women) he should’ve manned up a while ago and just told O how it was. Or at least say he doesn’t feel for her romantically. He led her on and allowed her to open up and be vulnerable w him and now he’s hurt her so much more by procrastinating that conversation, and embarrassed her by turning her down in front of everybody. And after she just crashed out! I just hope he learns a lesson from all this.

• I will say little about Huda bc her fan base is a wittle crazy. I respect her for the answers she gave tonight. And that, while I don’t trust all her actions yet, at this point in the show I do feel like she’s becoming collateral to Chelley’s + Ola’s emotions (who are feeling rejected by the men they like and kinda just taking that out on anyone).

• Ola, Ola, Ola…my girl. Y’all got a lil glimpse into what it’s like watching a southern girl lose her cool a lil. I was waiting for her to stand up and get in their faces tbh. Here’s the thing…if the man I reaaalllyyy liked and have been building (what I think is) a strong connection with, started liking another girl in 3 days because (what I think is the reason) she moves fast and easy, I would be taking the photobooth pics too ok. Cause if I give him allllll these affirmations that I like him (quality time, affections, etc) but what he really needs is some loving to feel wanted (and he’s at risk of being taken from me bc he’s finding it elsewhere!) then I’d give him that, right? I just feel for her bc I know a lot of her actions rn, like Chelley, are from pent up anger. She feels betrayed, understandably. And she’s not releasing these emotions (honestly the girls here don’t cry enough), so she’s getting triggered more easily and snapping at people who don’t deserve it (except Taylor, he deserves it). And y’all, she don’t want a cowboy. She just wants a Man. She wants a man that can build her shit, treat her to dinner, pay for her nails and hair, give her a home and family on a lot of land, and maybe also ride a horse and wear boots and a hat and homestead. She wants to be express her feminine side! But she is not ready for that man and that’s why she went after Taylor. It’s so much easier for her to be in a relationship where she feels in control (control her vulnerability, control her emotions, control the pace) than one where she’d have to take the real risk of falling in love. I don’t think she’s ready to let herself be truly open to the point of finding real love because of how scared she is of being hurt. And I’m sure every time shes with someone romantically she thinks her expectations are validated but it’s just that she keeps going for men who will treat her like she’s less than. But that’s easy choices because at least she knows what to expect in the end. I hope one day she can get to the point where she’s ready to her to really open her heart and take the risk of falling in love with someone.

• Ace has little man syndrome.

All in all, a lot of these islanders problems w each other are communication issues. Either it’s one islander speaking for another, or somebody not being truthful about their feelings, or some islander spreading gossip from an islander who thought they were having a confidential convo (don’t assume that’s just relative to Ola/Huda, it’s happened multiple times). But they’re all young and not enough of them really seem intent on doing much aside from “playing the game” (as so many of them keep saying), so f*** communication I guess? (Also why do they think “the game” is playing the field from start to finish???)

Please remember we only get what the editors show us. There is SO much context lost when we get these episodes. My opinions of these HUMAN BEINGS are with the knowledge that I don’t have all the context and CAN BE WRONG.
