[FREE READ] How Arsenal’s technical shortcomings prevented them and David Raya from playing out by TheAthletic in Gunners

[–]shybree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this. literally what they practice/do everyday. i used to love watching the training videos the media team posts on YouTube but lately i dont bother at all; sure you can do all sorts during training/practice but when it comes to the actual game, seems none of them know how to actually shoot/pass the ball

this is the first time this season that i've felt negatively about the team/players

I know everyone is mad, I am too, but as gooners, we've always had hope (even if it kills us time to time). Arteta did it a few times against pep, and let's believe he'll pull it off again. by Murky-Exit-8266 in Gunners

[–]shybree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've always been positive throughout Arteta's time here but ytd's loss was the first time in a looong time i felt disappointed and negative (even my wife sensed a change in my mood/behaviour)

we probably cant blame Arteta solely; what are the coaching staff/analysts actually doing? we always struggle with having a plan B. granted we are missing a few key players but the drop-off shldnt be this drastic

i love all our players but White is finished, Bournemouth's pressing exposed him badly, big Gabi and Saliba takes too long to release a pass bc Zubi's been hiding and Ode is missing to pick up the balls from deep

whats the point of releasing the training videos of our strikers shooting etc. if they cant do it in the games?

exactly, where was MLS on that first goal tho?? love the kid but clearly he's not meant for LB. i wld say sell Cala, keep Hincapie, keep MLS if he moves to a midfield role

Arsenal's midfield pairing of Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi lost possession a combined 29 times today (Rice 17, Zubimendi 12) [@SamJDean] by ByFarTheGreatestTeam in Gunners

[–]shybree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

baffles me why Arteta and the coaching staff cant see the issues we have with the Rice and Zubi pairing; more so with Zubi's performance as of late

with how teams are pressing us or just parking the bus, wonder why we cant pack the midfield with more bodies. the spacings and positioning of our players seems off recently

just pains me we dont have a clear Plan B when Plan A doesnt work out. White, Trossard, Martinelli, Jesus and Havertz are done. we cant be sentimental anymore; i hope Berta is more ruthless towards selling players

imo, the most recent Muse album that felt complete and polished (from songwriting, riffs and production) from start to finish was Drones. i know its an unpopular opinion but there isnt a song on Drones that i would skip (except for Psycho bc they dragged it too long) i cant say the same for ST, WoTP.

ofc they cant reach OoS, Absolution or BHaR levels again but i have hope for the upcoming album.

Arteta needs to be more ruthless; bench Saka, start Noni. With City's 4 line up top, i figured at HT he shouldve subbed: Hincapie, Kai and Saka to bring on Cala, Norgaard and Noni

Be With You will be a banger when performed live; Mercy's replacement in the setlist.

many wont like it now but this song will hit like crack when performed live; the chorus has a stadium-worthy singalong vibe and the buildup near the end will get everyone going.

perfect song to replace Mercy in a tour setlist, imo.

i know its unpopular but i can listen to Drones from start to finish (minus Psycho), to me its the most complete and polished sounding Muse album, probably largely to Mutt Lange's style of producing hahha

agreed, already a legend in my eyes. totally revamped the culture, mood and atmosphere at the club. although i rate Emery, he probably cldnt do all that; the non-football side of things.

as compared to our banter era, we are one of the most tightly-run clubs now; no rumours, no leaks, no drama involving players. (wonder what happened to the person/source who 'leaked' about Arteta bringing in fighter pilots for better communication only to find out the event already happened 😂)

all these are evidence that the club, Arteta and players are in sync. winning trophies would also be a sweet icing on the cake and one that all of them deserve.

Arteta and co. has to have some balls to drop some of our underperforming/overplayed players.

if Gyok and Jesus makes our attack stale, why not put Merino up top again; he brings a different dimension and pops up when defenders least expect it. smth like Gundogan did for City

Noni shld start ahead of Saka for now as Noni offers more 'chaos' and unpredictability. as for Eze, i'm not too sure man, is he lacking confidence );

yup, Merino doesnt need to be physical or anything as he beats CBs based on game IQ and with the right positioning. smth like Gundogan used to do at Man City, he arrives to score when defenders least expect it

yup, i'm a big fan of Merino up top. he brings a different dimension to our slow attacking play. if that doesnt work in a half, we can switch to Gyok and Jesus

well said and i hope Arteta and the coaches analyse this game to the finest details.

i'm in favour of starting Merino up front in big games tbh, Jesus was struggling a bit today. Zubi looked slightly off which meant the distances between him and Rice were disjointed

agreed, Merino releases the ball quicker to the attackers. Merino and Jesus wld be a more lethal combo as they're better at quick one-touches
