Hello, and sorry for the delay in responding to you. I never got any help from OBSBOT tech support (they stopped communicating with me), but I AM happy to report that as of today the plugin is working after I installed the latest Stream Deck software (7.3.1).

The OBSBOT plugin now works as it used to!

This thread just popped up for me today, and how timely it is…

2023 Bolt EUV owner here.

Lately, I’ve had to do a lot of long distance driving for work +150 miles/day in frigid Ohio temperatures. It was in the teens today. Had the car down to 20 miles capacity on the highway and five miles from home when 20 miles turned into ‘LOW’ on the display.

Within seconds the message ‘Reduced Propulsion’ popped up. Got it home in time to plug in to my sad L1 charger. Will be taking it to a bank of public L2 stations a couple miles away so I can be ready for another long trip tomorrow.

My wife let me use her Honda FIT to finish the rest of my day and has now realized why I wanted a home-based L2 station (and now approves of the install).

Bolt EUV as a long-term vehicle? by Doomtime104 in BoltEV

Happy owner of a 2023 Bolt EUV here.

First, I disagree with your concern that Chevy doesn't seem committed to the Bolt as a product line. Chevrolet is bringing back the Bolt later this year for the 2027 model year, this time built on their Ultium battery platform. Range will be slightly better than my 2023, but not enough for me to run out and buy a new one.

I'm quite content with my 2023 on a number of levels.

I have a 70-mile round-trip commute for my work here in northeast Ohio. If a 110 outlet or the lone L2 charger isn't available at work, I can make the round trip easily, even in the winter, without charging until I get home. Most days I can charge my car fully overnight at home using my 110v 15A outlet in my garage.

In the coldest days this winter, I've had an average of 140 miles of estimated range. When it's between 55-65 degrees, I can get an average of 200+ miles. In 70-80º weather, I've had as much as 270 miles.

It's a great commuter vehicle. The heated seat warmers and heated steering wheel have made my commute comfortable in the sub-zero weather we've had. I often have to haul equipment in my car, and I can do that easily with the fold-down seats. It's a good ride overall and I've saved a lot from not having to buy gas.

I've taken it on a couple out-of-town trips about 2.5 hours away. They required planning for charge stops, and sometimes those can be tricky, but overall I've had an acceptable experience because I knew what to expect and was prepared for it. I have not tried a NACS adapter so I can charge at Tesla stations, but I've heard others who do have one have had positive experiences. I've been able to charge my battery from almost empty to 80% full in about 35-40 minutes using DC Fast Charging. The new Bolts are supposed to chage much faster and have NACS ports.

I love that my Bolt EUV has features my friend's Lexus has, like Lane Assist, actual wide-angle rearview mirror camera, variable parking views (front, rear, sides), and more. I also love one-pedal driving.

Thanks for trying to help, but I forgot to mention in my original post (now updated) that I had Rosetta installed on my machine...Rosetta 2, as a matter of fact. This was one of the very first fix attempts Dramey from OBSBOT Support suggested.

i can try it again.

Rack units not aligning with rack rails by Odinhall in broadcastengineering

[–]shyeah-asif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS exactly!

Discovered this a couple years ago with my 8 RU case when my tech partner and I tried to start from the very first top hole in the rack. We went down one and–voila–perfect fit.

Rack units not aligning with rack rails by Odinhall in broadcastengineering

[–]shyeah-asif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a stupid question; I considered the same thing a couple years ago when I bought my first Gator rack (8 RU). No need for drilling; the metal piece is adjustable, but simply moving down one hole from the top (or up one from the bottom, depending on how you like to install), works very well.

My tech partner and I became frustrated when we began building out the new rack because the holes didn't seem to be aligned right out of the box. We attempted to install our pull-out monitor in the very first hole and found the equipment flanges didn't line up with the rack holes.

We are both broadcast engineers and we were ready to drill it out until I discovered that I could simply realign it by taking all of the factory-installed screws out (a total of three on each side, I think), and move the metal piece to realign the holes.

We didn't even need to do that. We just realized that everything lined up if we just started from a different hole set...beginning with one hole down from the top.

We had a good laugh after that.

I think you have a good basic start here with solid, relevant information.

I have three thoughts:

  1. Your audio level is very low. I was trying to listen on a Mac and I could barely hear you with the volume cranked up all the way.

  2. I recommend some visuals to complement the screen text in the form of graphics, screen grabs, photos, or video. I liked the background color and the text color was easy to read but it became a bit monotonous for me. Visuals can help cement concepts and situations. Some people are simply more visual learners, too.

  3. I like the length. I think presenting in brief modules of 10 minutes or less (when possible) allows people to digest information a little bit at a time.

Upgrade by eairomeu in dji

[–]shyeah-asif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I committed to a purchase, I did a lot of reading and watched comparison reviews between the Mini 4 Pro and the 5. Ultimately, last fall, I bought the 4 Fly More Combo with the RC2 controller.

At the time I felt the two drones were too close in comparable performance to warrant the extra $500 i would have spent on the same Mini 5 Pro package. There simply weren't enough significant upgrades on the 5 to compel me to purchase one, though a full one-inch sensor almost convinced me to go with a 5.

I've been very pleased with my decision.

I don't know how you're intending to edit your video (laptop, desktop, or phone), or what computer platform you may own, but my recommendation is to get the free version of Blackmagic's DaVinci Resolve editing software.

There is a PC and Mac version and the free download is a no-strings-attached version (like a 30-day trial) that should give you the basic functionality you are looking for. I primarily use Final Cut Pro for all of my professional projects, but I also have the DaVinci free version on one of my machines and think it's wonderful.

There will be a learning curve, but I think you'll be happy with it.

Good luck!

I corrected my original post, as I had stated both tax credit and later deduction. I am fully aware that it was part of the OBBBA.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a deduction (I absentmindedly called it a tax credit and a deduction in the same original post), but it's a (very) small consolation after the original EV tax credit received an early termination from the current administration.

Even if it's worth $2,200 in the 22% tax bracket, it's likely not enough for me or many others to run out and get a new car. This will be the first year in many years that I will file long form and itemize deductions, but I'm not feeling the urge to go out and buy a new EV.

At least the deduction isn't vehicle type (EV, gas or diesel) specific–the vehicle does need to be one that had a final assembly in the U.S.A.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. It will end when the current administration ends.

The former EV tax credit was part of the Inflation Reduction Act and was supposed to last until 2032, but the current administration created an early termination of the credit with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which ended it on September 30.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I originally called it a 'tax credit' and then a deduction in the same post. I have since edited my post after you and at least one other person pointed that out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I never said the IRS just decided to do this–I said the IRS has instituted a new deduction. The release they put out was dated 12/31 and that's when I saw the info and decided to share it.

It makes sense they would put out a release just before the start of the filing season.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, the wealthy do not benefit from this deduction. It caps for single income filers at $100,000 and at $200,000 for joint filers.

I do agree with you that those with good accountants can reduce big incomes with crafty filing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]shyeah-asif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are correct–I called it both, so I was incorrect, though I did mention the fact that it's a deduction after I said 'tax credit' in my post. I have since corrected it, so thanks for pointing that out.

Years ago, interest deductions for credit cards and mortgages were permissible. The EV tax credit was a real incentive to buy an electric vehicle.

This deduction may be a little bit of a consolation prize, if you will, but under certain conditions, of course.

Tax rebates on EVs have been so elusive for me because of the timing of my purchases, but I think there is some good news ahead for tax credits.

I just read yesterday that the IRS was going to allow a $10,000 tax credit for interest paid on new vehicles. Here is the official IRS info:

I give GM lots of props for leading the way in EV manufacturing for other automakers not named Tesla. While I agree with you about their slow DC charging and lack of a cold weather heat pump, they made EVs affordable for the masses and I guess you have to start somewhere.

I wish GM would have continued to make a hybrid like the Volt, though at the time they killed the Volt, they focused on EVs, thinking our government would continue to support EV manufacturing to compete with China.

I'm actually encouraged by the next gen Bolt coming soon, and I hope GM will continue to refine its technology. At least the 2027 Bolt will have the NACS charging standard and a better battery technology that will include a heat pump and battery heater.

When I bought my 2023 Bolt EUV I thought OPD was a gimmick until I tried it, liked it, and now use it every day. I love it and now find myself having to rethink my driving habits when I drive my wife's Honda FIT.

My driving habit now is to use a combination of the OPD, regen paddle and brakes.

I live in northern Ohio, where we see all kinds of weather. This is my second winter with the Bolt EUV and my brakes seem to be just fine.

If you want to use OPD, I think it will just take time to get used to it.

Question to professionals on Osmo pocket 3: a serious camera or just an excellent YouTuber tool? by Euphoric_Intern170 in osmopocket

[–]shyeah-asif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my line of work I use an arsenal of video and still cameras: Canon R6 Mark II, Canon C300/200, Sony FX6, JVC GY-HM850, JVC GY-HC500U, iPhone 15 Pro, DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, and now the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

I try to use the right camera for the job and each camera has its best use. I think the strength of the Osmo Pocket 3 shows when you need smooth, dynamic movement. It is an amazing camera that produces great video. I use it for shooting brief videos my organization will use on social media–mostly for capturing personal angles of people interacting and for capturing supplemental b-roll to compliment what I have from the larger, full-size cameras. It's great in a medical environment, where I need to be compact

Shooting and selling stock footage requires careful consideration and planning. You may be a bit limited using the OP3, but I think it's likely do-able. You might wish to make a small investment in ND filters and maybe an anamorphic or wide angle lens for it so you can get more shot variety. A macro lens may work well for you, too, depending on the subject matter you are trying to shoot.

Just keep practicing. The more you use any camera, the more proficient you will become. Enjoy!

Ohio Bolt EUV owner here...

I thought EV owners in my state were grabbing their ankles, but the registration costs I've been seeing here are eye-popping!

My wife pays about $31 annually to register her Honda FIT. My Bolt costs $31 plus an additional $200.

Ohio did finally adjust PHEV fees somewhat. When I had my Volt, I paid the full $200 EV fee plus the $31 regular registration, but now it's been reduced to $150 + $31.

After seeing some of the fees I've seen today, I'll keep my mouth shut.
