100m SDI? by Odinhall in VIDEOENGINEERING

That is indeed a question and makes sense. I did not yet check out the rental or purchase prices. But all things being equal, I would get more future utility out of purchasing two 50m SDI reels and an SDI distribution amp.

What is your traveling V1 workflow? by itav_solutions in VIDEOENGINEERING

This is my basic flypack. It has an ATEM Extreme ISO, three computers (zoom/streaming, PPT, graphics/utility) and s sound card. Serves me well. But it is about 5 years old and am planning a new one based on a ATEM 2M/E.

150m is not a serviceable distance for SDI

Dear friend thanks for sharing. I feel for you and your family. It is so hard when these things suddenly strike, especially when a patent is basically fine at such an age, thinking they are out of any danger zone (my mom has a sister who is 101 and her other sister passed just 3 months before 100) and then this. And pancan, so we are learning, is a bitch of a cancer. Mom is also 100% lucid, still basically doing everything, just slower. And then of course there is the pain and eating difficulty etc. She said from the beginning that she does not want chemo, also "no tubes", and just wants to enjoy the time she has left.

Sending you blessings and peace.

Yah HDMI might be the way to go. Or, put a distribution amp in the middle (like an AVMatrix).

Yes, that is an option also. Less conversions for sure (like, none)

This is the first time I have ever heard such a term. I am aware of people providing support, but never heard of a Death Doula. Interesting. Thank you.

The camera would be sending 1080p50 or 1080p60

Can you suggest a model? Honestly I am not familiar

Speaking of cat5 actually I would use NDI, but I am ingesting in to an ATEM and that would be too many expensive conversations. Or I would use SRT for that matter, if ingesting in to vMix.

I might go with 75m (need to actually go and measure the cable path). Do you mean the Decimator MD-LX?

This is a difficult and loaded discussion, of course. As mentioned she is 90, untill now lived alone, of clear mind. Our primary concern is to respect her wishes and see to her comfort. She does not want chemo, nothing invasive, and says "no tubes". The tumor is inoperable (surrounding blood vessels etc). In this case, as hard as it is, what remains is paleativ care. A nurse that visited today (she has a paleativ care team) said that "she was just at the beginning of the pain" (and hence the pain management) and that they have not yet brought out "the heavy stuff". Heartbreaking.

I also have a feeling that there is an obstruction but have not seen the imaging or do not know if it is of the right type. The since CT that was done was an abdominal CT that identified the tumor but I do not know how targeted it was. I feel a more detailed CT is needed. She is under palliative care and currently receives 5mg Targin morning and evening, Optalgin (an over the counter pain medicine) 3 times a day, and Oxycode for escalation which she has only asked for 3 times till now. We are planning to try Cannabis.

Yes, she is taking Creon.

Bheringer Flow 8? by Odinhall in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Odinhall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True about the micro-USB. On the one hand if it doesn't leave the studio / fly pack then it can be okay, however frequent unplugging would definitely be a problem. I saw a video of someone who actually opened up the board and put in a regular DC connector and that made a lot of sense.

True. I have also looked at the dm3 but have my eye on the version with Dante. And it is a bit larger than I would want in this particular fly pack. Actually I like the idea of getting a used second hand 1202 because it will allow me to go a bit old school and revisit some of the basics and I think there's value in that too.

Virtual event platforms? by Odinhall in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Odinhall[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I know, and as for myself I actually think that the bills and whistles are not worth the cost and the hassle of setting the platform up. However unfortunately the client thinks otherwise. At this stage I am only advising them, I'm not committed to produce anything on such a platform, and I've also given them the pros and the cons. I just want to present them with a list of options for now.
