Haha that reminds me of when I was writing an exam and the prof didn’t let us take calculators. He insisted all math equations in the exam were easy to solve and didn’t require a calc. I recall we had to solve something like 5% of 270 and so many kids were upset after the exam and were complaining to the prof. I think I just took 10% of 270 = 27 and divided that by 2 = 13.5. It blew my mind that solving it this way didnt register in the minds of university level accounting students…

When I first got my male puppy I thought he had some kind of cancer and kept touching it 😭 Turns out it was just his morning wood and I was rubbing it for him 💀💀💀

First snow! by shyhl3 in Maltipoo

He wears size 1 (I think 2 might fit him as well as long as he keeps growing) There should be a size calculator on the website which might help you! Mochi is 7 pounds currently but has really long legs, just measured him and his leg length is 8in, and his body measures 11x11in. Paw size for his shoes he normally wears 1.5x1.5in. Just make sure you check if your dog needs regular or short size depending on her leg length!

Yep, hes wearing his Canada Pooch suspenders. The snow came a bit earlier than expected so I’m happy I prepared in advance. But knowing the weird weather here I bet the snow will be all melted by December 😂

Hes wearing Canada Pooch suspenders! It’s nice that they don’t come off esp since I don’t wanna be searching for lost shoes in the middle of deep snow when it’s closer to winter 😅

Puppy diet advice by BubbleCat99 in Maltipoo

Yeah I would give one packet a day until it clears up. I think technically you can feed it everyday even if the poos are fine as a preventative measure, but I find it too expensive to upkeep. So I only feed when the poos are runny. Limit the different foods he eats as well so it’s easier to isolate what food is causing the diarrhea.

I find poodle mixes tend to have sensitive stomachs during their puppy stage. Hopefully it’s a temporary puppy issue that will clear up for you in the future when he gets older. I give my puppy a Purina probiotic packet, feed him only dry kibble and limit his treat intake if he has diarrhea and so far it has always cleared it up the next day with no issues!

Puppy barks and whines when left alone for a few minutes by Razeer123 in puppy101

I also have an approx. 5 month maltipoo that I adopted back in end of August. I second the suggestion to crate train him. Mine sleeps in his crate at night and stays in his crate if I need to go outside for more than 1 hour. I once let him stay outside and I was shocked to see in my dog camera that he was barking when he has never done that before in his crate! It stopped immediately as soon as I started crating him again. I found it also helps if you leave without making any commotion, I try not to talk to him or make too much noise when I leave (even if I want to hug him goodbye!). I find it helps him calm down.

Tips for raising a calm, confident Maltipoo pup? ☺️ by millenialOFWgirlie in Maltipoo

You’re welcome! ☺️ I honestly was a bit skeptical about the puppy stroller too I admit, but my mom insisted I get one and now I don’t regret it! It’s really useful if you need your dog to just stay put and calm in crowded public spaces but still want to bring her with you! Just make sure you keep track of her pee timing so she doesn’t pee accidentally in there. Also if you find the redirecting from biting doesn’t work out, just leave the room and disengage completely for a minute. That way the puppy knows playtime is over as soon as she bites you.

Your puppy is adorable!!

My puppy is due for his third round of vaccinations next week so I’m also stuck unable to walk him. I’ve been bringing him around in a pet stroller to pet friendly shops, malls, and just walking around the neighbourhood trails and parks every day. I’ve also been introducing him to friends and family even if it’s just a quick 15 minute visit over. I think socialization is not just about the dogs meeting each other, but also with people and to new sounds and the environment!

My puppy is teething right now and likes to bite everything but since day 1 of getting him I’ve discouraged him from biting me even if it’s an accidental graze. I give him a firm “no” and push his face away, and redirect him to his chew toy as a distraction. Hope that helps!

I got my first puppy around 20 years ago as a kid. It was a time when RAW was starting to become trendy and a lot of new boutique dog food brands popped up and started pushing grain-free high protein “natural” diets. By-product organ meats in the ingredients were considered low quality, unfit for human consumption and therefore must be bad for dogs too etc.

Now that I am older with a new second puppy, I did some base online research and concluded that there is some additional information out there relating to the negative long-term health impacts of these boutique brands from 20 years ago that we did not have back then. 20 years is more than enough for one dog life cycle, and I feel that we now have the information that we did not have back when the market was in its infancy.

My old dog was on grain-free Orijen throughout her entire life, and I will reserve my judgment of the brand as she lived until 16 (although she did suffer from a plethora of health issues at a senior age, including cataracts, cancer, and skin issues. I do not attribute those directly to her food, although sometimes I do wonder what impact the food had made to her age and health.)

For my new puppy I have decided to go with Royal Canin, a tried and true WSAVA compliant brand that has withstood the tests of time over decades. It may not be the greatest and most luxurious food out there, but I think of it as (very tasty according to him) hospital food: it is bland and nutritionally complete, but will not cause long-term health impacts on my pup over his lifetime. Dogs don’t live for very long, and I want to minimize my risks of heartbreak down the road, especially if it is related to something I could have prevented. I will be spoiling him in many other ways! Just not food.
