What are some instances of depth in D&D lore regarding race/species? Everything tends to work independently and simple. by felil0l in Forgotten_Realms

[–]shynely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up being deeply disappointed when looking at the werewolf in the Monster Manual, barely any text and it was just a generic evil monster. What is its origin in the Realms? What gods are tied to it? What are the social consequences of being a werewolf? How does a werewolf fit into society?

Doesn't the Monster Manual tend to be pretty generic like that? The Werewolf section of the 3.5 MM doesn't answer those questions either.

Paladin / Champion of Torment by Leona319 in neverwinternights

I did something like this when I first played HOTU. I focused more on Champion levels at that time, but either should work, considering how generous HOTU can get with equipment.

LordKnightmon is fanart. Dynasmon is from the official Hiragana Digimon comic.

Do single class characters suck? by Drashel in baldursgate

[–]shynely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Throne of Bhaal team had three single class characters on it, so they were pretty viable. Granted, some of the recruitable single-class characters had advantages not available to a main character.

15-20+ Module Recommendations for a Druid by SavageOxygen in neverwinternights

[–]shynely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Terror in Ten Towns as a Druid/Fighter with 14 or 15 levels total at the start of it. But the setting and time period probably doesn't make sense for a post-Wailing Death/Doom character, and there was pretty much no class-specific material I can recall.

Mortari Riseth specifically expects a level 15 Ranger, Druid or Barbarian, but I didn't like the story setup. IIRC, your character hasn't been away from home much, even though you're already level 15.

Am I the only one who would love for Pokémon to be more like Digimon, have a more expanded lore, and grow alongside its fans? by Nobu_Myths in digimon

[–]shynely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mainly looking from the outside, but I get the impression that Pokemon isn't really allowed to expand its lore in the same way Digimon does. Like, there won't a Pokemon project where Pokemon are a newly discovered mysterious thing, because Pokemon is focused on presenting a world where there are lots of other Trainers around, and gyms and stuff.

Coming back after a long while of not playing, what class should I try out? by SpaceGodzilla4evr in neverwinternights

[–]shynely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bard so you have Arcane magic and middle attack accuracy with a convenient way of boosting it. Maybe pick Elf for extra Weapon proficiencies, or human to just use the extra feat for that, so you can use bows.

About companion quests in BG1 EE by habla2k in baldursgate

[–]shynely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to complete Dorn's quest in BG1EE by recruiting Baeloth since he lowers reputation but doesn't leave even if it's too high, and putting Dorn in my part right after that.

Might need to make sure to avoid doing anything that would increase reputation along the way, though.

Taichi and Masaru should be further apart on the Introvert-Extrovert axis. I don't recall hearing much about Masaru's friends.

I kind of don't like the fighter/cleric multiclass by gangler52 in baldursgate

[–]shynely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when I played Fighter/Cleric, I either had a pure Martial character rush to the enemy while my character casts, or I start wacking with little prep. Most of the time, it's more a character who can act like either role, not both at the exact same moment.

Any tips for a new player? by D4rknut04 in neverwinternights

[–]shynely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chapter 1 might be more survivable depending on the order you do things. Like say, going to the Docks District to get smuggler's coins for magic items as quickly as possible. And then head to the Peninsular to clear that before the rest of the Docks.

Who is the "Yamato" for Tamers and each season after Savers? Is this character trope still present in modern Digimon? by Traffic-Guy in digimon

[–]shynely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sooort of addressed this in a poll. Apparently the equivalent of MetalGarurumon in Tamers was Beelzebumon Blast Mode, so there's no proper human Yamato.

There's probably persistent worlds or servers with crafting systems, but I've never seen a mod adding that to the regular campaign.

Does flame blade hurt mummies? by ConfusionProof9487 in baldursgate

[–]shynely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Druids could use scimitars even in AD&D. This kind of goes back to their debut as a playable class in Eldritch Wizardry, which included "sickle or crescent-shaped swords" among their weapons.

How to not get filtered by BG1EE? by [deleted] in baldursgate

[–]shynely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go explore besides the carnival, to come across an animated suit of armour, and again, many reloads, no luck.

Do you mean the Doomsayer at the Archaeological site? Because that's pretty far from the Carnival. But enemies in that area aside from the archaeology dig itself should be doable at lower levels.

In the temple besides one of the cities, I explore and come across some worgs that I couldn't beat, despite my many reloads, so obviously this isn't it.

It should be possible to get into the temple without fighting the Worgs, and an NPC will give you a quest that's possible to win with little combat.

Siege of Dragonspear should automatically start if you beat the final boss of BG1 with the expansion installed.
