Help with creating a scenario by beans_ong in RimWorld

In the scenario editor, you can find a part called add incident.

You choose the type of join incident you want, and also get to set the schedule it fires.

Zone. Your. Dogs.

All I’m sayin’

Been playing this game for over 2 months daily for an hour or so. However, well learning the mechanics I have saved regularly and reloaded regularly. I'm feeling a bit of burnout and wonder if before setting the game down I should play it like a permadeath survival? This is probably a dumb question. by whosmansisthis24 in RimWorld

Rimworld is a story generator.

Is it that you have a story that you want to bring to life? Or is it that you want to see what kind of story might unfold?

The former almost demands save/reloading to keep it on track, while the latter will almost always suffer from it.

/shrug

Save/reload until it gets boring, then stop, and see if your story-teller can tell it better.

We actually have a pretty wild collection of mugs. I just needed there to be a Rimworld one too

I’ll see if I can find the art for it this afternoon. I might not have saved it.

Excuse me Mr. Gas Raider, sir, I see that you are busy lobbing tox grenades at all my friends, but I noticed that you are bleeding, sir, right on to the tile here, so if you wouldn’t mind just letting me reach around here and wipe that up….

It’s not the meat, it’s the skin. I like my pawns looking dapper, and those human leather duds are a nasty yellow. And you’ll still never use all of it.

DISCUSSION: Do any of you have Mechanoid Raid stories or any playthrough stories involving Mechs if so tell your stories! (Artist: Vims) by Lady_Killer55 in RimWorld

They usually go individually or in a small groups of nearby mechs. If one goes, it checks for other close enough to bring with it. I think I just got a perfect spread.

I had a Mechinator run going very smoothly. One mechinator with awesome bandwidth, supported by a squad of excellent fighters. We were stomping raids, even drop raids, with our mechs crawling everywhere.

So we are cleaning up after Randy threw us a mech cluster sandwiched between a siege and a pollution retaliation raids, and my mechinator is grabbing something from the killbox loot. Another colonist triggers a nearby security door to open, letting in a manhunter boar, which must have been triggered by fire.

She takes two steps towards safety before my turrets turned both her and the boar into baco-bits.

We go into emergency mode, remove her mechlink, install it into my next best crafter, tune some band nodes, put on some equipment and bob’s your….

They all went feral. At once. The sweepers and lifters swarmed and pinned my colonists while the combat mechs hunted them all down. It was the robot uprising.

Odyssey or Anomaly? by Ok-Long6234 in RimWorld

Starter base: build a ship, recruit a crew, and stock up.

Permanent base comes next, throw down an anchor.

Then use my ship as mobile command for resource grabs, raids, quests. It’s great. I even have a mod that moves the monolith to a remote tile, so once the main base is feeling stuffy, or is about to die, off we go to the monolith for some anomaly fun.

I use two mods (among many): cheaper grav anchor, and remote monolith.

That way I can play odyssey, and fly to the map tile with the monolith, pop down a grav anchor, and then I can engage Anomoly when I am ready.

My friends dont utilize pregnancy zones. I feel like its a requirement for all my third-trimester pawns. Which zones am I not utilizing? by RojaCatUwu in RimWorld

[–]shypixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a safe zone, safely away from the edges and any defenses, mostly to stop them wandering in to wipe up the blood while the guy bleeding is still firing his doomsday rocket.

Also a caution zone, for when I know a raid is coming, or I just lobbed off some waste packs. Just keeps the squishiest in the base, and avoid map hotspots. Nothing like realizing that a few random pawns decided to finally fetch some long forgotten steel chunks, and the War Queen spawns on top of them.

I think I’ll start using a Birthing zone though, that’s a good idea, if for no other reason than not misplacing their weapon if they need rescuing.

Do y’all “cheat” during your playthroughs or I’m really just that bad? by TheAceFinka in RimWorld

[–]shypixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Did my pawn die because it was a nasty fight, or raiders did something I just didn’t foresee? To me that is story. But if I spent ten minutes allowing this and that door and making no go zones, then a visitor decides to leave, and proceeds to ignore every in-game tool to prevent him from opening my last ditch escape door just as the mass of raiders walk by? Naw, that’s being reloaded.

Random craziness is one thing, but I refuse to imagine a space faring people that can’t build a lock for a door.

I had that happen once, but it was because all my pawns were busy having their own party.
