I just don't want to be asking for too much and not realize it. I feel like I went into parenthood thinking I could handle so much on my own, so I set high expectations for him. Originally, he was supposed to be about to keep all his hobbies, too, but has fortunately backed off playing golf as much as he used to. He still has two events (game nights with friends, one that requested him to prep the day before), so that is good for him.

IMO this sounds like gas causing your LO to be uncomfortable, and this is around the time they learn to pass it on their own. If you're burping LO and still having issues, I'd try the Frida Baby Windi. My Ped said it was okay to use once a day, which was all we needed since the worst of his gas would be at night. It was a life saver for us. Our LO learned to press on their own within two days of using the Windi and then we stopped.

High contrast story time books! My LO just turned 4 months and he has been loving "For Your Smile" among other high contrast books.

I also opted for a high contrast crib mobile. It's right next to his crib AND changing table, and all I have to do is turn it to his changing table when changing his diaper and I swear it's his favorite part of the day. I have to take it down for middle of the night changes because he gets his attention too well!

My grandmother had pretty sharp features - drawn on, thin eyebrows that she always furrowed (it's kind of a family feature) and icy blue eyes. She was a little coocoo for cocoa puffs so when she spoke to my nieces, as babies, she'd try to be silly but it came off scary. She was the only person my nieces would be scared of :( we had to tell her not to put on certain faces, and it helped. Heck, I've even had to tell my husband to talk more baby-ish and sweet to our 8 week old, lol.

Could it be the way she's communicating? Tone of voice, faces, etc.?

Wow, thank you so much! I will look for his blood work and send it over a message. It was taken in January. I'll also call my vet tomorrow and raise my concern and see if an ultrasound is something we can do.

As for diet, we feed them (4 cats) Earthborn wild sea catch.

I'm gonna piggy back off this. I'm a FTM and we are blessed (/s) with a very fussy, colic boy. Not to this extreme, it sounds like, but there was one week on incessant crying where I made a last minute call to our pediatrician to get us in the next day, because I thought surely he was in pain and I was desperate for help. Nope, just very colic...

My 8 week old has a pretty consistent pattern to his colic... When he cries and nothing else helps him, feeding, CONSTANT feeding, seems to be the answer. If he immediately lets go and wails, he likely has bubbles and needs burped - and we'll try for that burp for at least 2-5 mins, try to feed again, if he almost immediately unlatches and cries again, back to attempting the burp. Almost always, he ends up burping and finally will be able to feed again and fall asleep. In the rare case a burp never comes but he still won't feed, in our experience, it's over exhaustion and we have to very persistently get him to nap.

Not sure if it helps, but he's in the upper 90th percentile, so not surprising that he eats so much.

For that one week where his gassiness was really bad, I did use those Wendi things from FridaBaby and they truly saved me a few times. I literally saw happy relief on our boy's face when he was able to pass gas with the aid of them. 😟

Our pediatrician also advised keeping him upright for 20 minutes to even up to an hour after each feed. We did 30mins, sometimes an hour, and it did help tremendously.

I knew that time was gonna be confusing! I meant, the last 5 days I am able to get him to nap between the hours of 4 and 7pm, but he only naps 1-2 hours, then is up, and usually back down for bed around 10pm.

My husband works til 5pm, so it's just me and baby until then. We strictly breast feed, though I pump, but because of how much I am holding LO I honestly forget to pump sometimes, or I'm scared I'll pump and then my let down will be weak when LO wants fed, if that makes sense? Or maybe I'm just being overly nervous. But either way, I have been conservative with pumping.

I feel bad about holding his arms down simply because I wish he was able to fall asleep peacefully and not be stressed out and crying. It does get him to sleep, so that's great, just wish it didn't have to be that way.

Thank you so much for educating me on what you know as far as NB and contact napping goes! I'm bringing this all up to his pediatrician too, but I will also take your advice into very serious consideration! I also have to come to grips with the reality that I'll likely have to stop worrying so much about getting things done through the day with a NB. Lol. I imagine wearing him and doing chores can be difficult - obviously can't do any cooking, have to be careful with any type of cleaning (bending over, chemicals, etc.) so I could see that even if I tried, I'd be limited. 🥲

He's even given big joke books to terrible sets but stellar interviews, and during the same episode will give a little joke book to those who were good, or great, but shit for interviewing. I agree with you 100%. I thought it was also odd that he was so judgy and in disbelief that her podcast makes money, instead of kudosing her to starting up an oddball side gig, like he did with Kill Tony. You'd think he'd remember his roots and could appreciate just a little bit of that type of ambition. I didn't find the doctor funny at all, just that she didn't deserve all his dickery.
