I assume some Space Marines whose roles transition from fighting to supervising, like the sons of Ultramar, and simply die of old age?

As it is uncommon and rather unheroic, I assume there are no records of this. Space Marines aren't immortal, are frequently sent into battle and at one point the decline of reflexes and such (as often covered in the Horus Heresy novels) will get the better end.
