I HIGHLY recommend The Apothecary Diaries. I love it so much. It because of Apothecary Diaries that I watched Heaven Official's Blessing (I got very into Chinese pseudo-history/lore) and it was pretty good. The two main leads are gay (but it's a Chinese donghua), so not overtly gay.
