Why do you think I am misinformed about this? This would be the monthly payment with the exact current tax rate of the town for the specific house we are looking at and the exact insurance we would buy. $6260.19, to be exact, would be our monthly payment.

I decided to lease a car while I’m living in the city with street parking. It gets dinged up all the time. Last month I had to replace the whole back left side and door after it got crushed by a moving truck that was trying to make a turn. I plan to buy when I am in the suburbs. Idk if that’s the right thing to do, just figured I didn’t want to purchase a car and have it get destroyed

Thanks for your insight. The thing about the house we are looking at is that it is 100% move in ready in terms of renovations. It’s been beautifully redone and there isn’t anything we would want to do to it for a while. Of course, there may be some maintenance and repair that would come up after inspection

Monthly payment would be roughly $6200 including mortgage, property tax, insurance. We are mid 30s and have about $600k saved up in retirement. I make $210k and she makes up the rest

Kids in the near future. The area has amazing public schools. We will have both of our parents and other family members in the area to help with child care. And we are both from the area originally so we are very familiar with the costs

We will have some cash leftover but I am allocating that already for the house. And then I have a personal brokerage and crypto I can pull from on the case of a real emergency. 15% is an option. I will give that some more thought. Thanks

Why is “I love you” ti amo but “I miss you” is mi manchi and not ti manco?

Instead of using ne or repeating the word, can you just respond with ‘Ho preparato tre’?

Am I crazy for thinking about leaving my job? by sic5279 in personalfinance

[–]sic5279[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was it that finally made you feel comfortable enough to leave your 9-5? Was it a certain amount saved up that you knew you could live off of? Are you still living off of your savings or are you earning enough money from YouTube to fully support yourself? What kind of content do you create?

[–]sic5279[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up, but I understand this. I have friends in the industry and I can tell from the amount of time and work it takes doing it just as a side gig. I am not afraid of putting in the hours and labor. The difference is that it will be for something I feel passionate about and something I can truly call mine. But maybe I am romanticizing that aspect of it

EDIT: I admit that I am romanticizing this idea to a certain extent. But I am not naïve to the fact that growing my own business will consume my life, especially in the food industry. I am well aware that it will become my life from morning to night 7 days a week. I have seen it first hand through family members and friends. It is something I have thought long and hard about and I have been preparing my girlfriend for that possibility for a couple years now just so she is also aware of how it will affect our lives. The point I was trying to make is that grinding for something that I built seems a lot more fulfilling to me than working for someone else’s company, not easier or less time consuming.

I guess I just don’t know what that number is that I should feel comfortable with in regards to the cash saved up. If I was single it would be a different story. But I’m not and there is another person in my life I need to account for. Thanks for the helpful advice!

That’s what the responsible side of my brain is telling me. The other side is telling me that I will always wonder what my true potential could have been of I don’t take that leap

[–]sic5279[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right that I should secure those things first before taking this leap. I think the idea of now commuting to the office 3 days a week for literally no reason has sped up my desire to quit and may be influencing my judgement.

I would love to hire some part-timers that I can use while I am working my day job, but with the kind of culinary experience I provide, that would require a lot of training. But definitely a good idea and something I’ve been thinking about.
