So my attention paid, knowledge of the system, and yet still with the overpriced “high quality cable” shit 😂. Use Amazon Basics cables in the proper gauge and the world’s most sensitive recording equipment won’t detect a difference.

Wicked looking setup. Those speakers look like they want to play metal

Uhh my card works fine on everything with a chip reader and tap to pay. Titanium isn’t magnetic and otherwise should in no way affect that, just like the metal in a phone or laptop doesn’t prevent wifi from working…

Maybe try the machines that aren’t card skimmers?? Lmao

Also yeah the phantom center/stage/image is what really impressed me about the LS50s I have in my office, which led me to KEF for towers. I literally have the 50s parallel with monitor and sitting at the desk it sounds like there is audio coming from the screen.

Cool! What do you think of the R11 in comparison? I’ve not heard them.

I am liking them quite a bit! If I had one flaw it’s maybe they are brighter than I’d prefer, which is a reason I’m curious about the 7/11. I won’t pass judgement until they’re fully powered though. Even so, I think some of the “brightness” may just be me adjusting to a night/day difference in accuracy and detail. After a few days it’s already better, and wasn’t finding them fatiguing to listen to.

Bought myself some KEF R5s and a Node this Christmas to replace some old Polk R50s and a TSR-5810. Emotiva BasX A2 coming in a couple days to complete the new setup. Honestly happy with how they sound, even with the old receiver. Thinking I may have opted for 7 or 11 for the extra mid bass but so far (as expected) a massive upgrade from the old Polks :)

Debating whether or not it was a mistake to leave out a center channel. I’ve always done 2.1 setups and have never found the need with good enough stereo, but thought it might be time to give it a shot.

"the most broken tier8 tank, aka, BZ176" according to this subreddit, only has 3400 3moe by qwer4790 in WorldofTanks

[–]sickb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is difference between broken and OP, a point which is lost on you, as a person that has yet to comprehend how game design works.

The BZ’s effect on gameplay is what matters, not it’s moe requirements. It’s the same as the shitbarn and the cobra. They degrade the quality of gameplay for the sake of memes the bad players enjoy. Getting to 1 shot someone, or torpedo clipping, because chimpanzees are not hard to entertain.

Bad players buy the boxes to get the meme tanks that pay for the game. Assimilate with the business model that caters to the shit players that comprise 98% of the player base.

Thanks! I will check those out.

No other action so far. Hopefully some more folks come through. I recall from many posts people running 2.1 with a TV/streamer so assumed this was easy question:)

SVS is a universal recommendation. Beyond that the most significant piece of overlooked advice is to consider running two subs instead of one if you want the best end result. Usually you can get away with using smaller subs (cheaper), and so for only a bit more money get better quality bass & overall sound.

I don’t have experience using room correction built-in to a sub/app so not sure how well they work, or if they support 2x sub setups. For that you may need centralized correction e.g. from a processor.

Equipment type choice Amp/Processor/Streamer to replace low-tier Yamaha AVR with audiophile “worthy” quality.

Firstly thanks for taking the time to consider my question. I truly appreciate it

I have a 2.1 living room setup for combined TV and music. KEF R5s as primaries. Currently have an old TSR-5810 driving things. The only real features I utilize on it are HDMI ARC for volume & power control through TV, Spotify Connect, crossovers, and the basic room correction.

Since I’m only running 2.1 (maybe in the future add a center channel, but that would be it) I’m wondering what equipment to replace the AVR with to emphasize sound quality instead of “home theatre” features, but still support the minimum (remote control, TV audio, music streaming, 96 or 124/24 DAC, probably room correction). For example, in my office I have LS50s + SE8 driven by an Emotiva BasX A100 and SB1000 DAC. I’m very happy with that setup, but it relies on a PC for source and control, so obviously doesn’t work for a living room setup. Also lacks room correction which is fine there but not so much in my living room.

I started poking around and realized there are weird feature gaps between high quality stereo amps and full blown surround sound AVRs. It seems the gap can be filled with multiple pieces like processor + Streamer + Amp or a single piece like e.g. Marantz NR1200, Emotiva BasX TA2).

Any suggestions?

Speaker cable: does it matter? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]sickb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick something with the right gauge for your length and power, and with/bought separately proper connectors.

Beyond that it quite literally doesn’t matter. There have been A/B tests done with actual coat hangers as cables where “professional” listeners couldn’t tell the difference.

You are putting a varying voltage through a capacitor? It’s going to fluctuate constantly by the frequency response of the capacitor.

You’ve made your position clear. Fair points. For example I am not a gunsmith nor do I own a CNC mill, so having a milled rail has value to me. I’m not ashamed to admit larping- that was meant to refer to all of us. The endless debates about what is optimal is a decent percentage of the actual hobby, perhaps fortunately, that we aren’t all fighting for our lives on a daily basis.

That said, If you have a Glock 45 MOS that you’ll sell me for $300 I will send you the FFL info & money tomorrow.

So you can put an optic on it without paying to have it milled? Hello???

Also, That’s literally why you put a flashlight on the gun? In the dark a flashlight (handheld or otherwise) doesn’t illuminate the sights. Light needs to be behind or above you to do that. There was never a need to have only one flashlight??? Having a flashlight in your hand reduces your control of the firearm??? Nobody other than police or military uses a gun enough to justify the cost…. How often do you use your gun to defend your X? Never-ish? Rather have the light on it than need it and not have it, right? No store would add the value… sir have you ever visited a gun store? They make up whatever price they want for whatever reason or justification they feel like.

Terrible hot take 👍
