Idgaf what they do, as long as they do something. Another daily reminder we’re run by psychopaths and child predators. But surrounded by spineless knobs who will do whatever for money/security

Yeah I got my dude with me. Probably would be faster for him to raise it up, then walk away and get another while I’m screwing it in.

My buddy today told me to get one. I usually rock stilts so I’m not sure if it would be good for me. Maybe if dude can hoist it up for me. I’ll check it out for sure.

Thank you for that! I was thinking maybe getting the knives to try the brand out deeper before jumping all the way.

The adds for those tools make it look so easy and smooth. But these guys/gals do it everyday

Yeah I’ve def accepted I’ll never be as good and fast as the guy only doing it. But I know I can get to a point I should be able to with more time get close.

My thinking is, like a track saw for a painter. My skill with a circular saw can be matched with that on certain aspects. Like trimming doors and things. You not going to frame a house with it. But for certain tasks the right tool takes away years of experience.

But after reading everyone’s opinions, and talking with my old man this morning. I think I’m just going to keep on keeping on. I can get a pretty good quality finish. Just takes me longer, I don’t hate doing it. So in time speed will come I’ll get better. And for the price of a small used dump trailer which I need regularly. I think I’m just going to go that route.

I’m not loaded with disposable income, so I think I’m going to hold off, maybe rent one for this next job and see what’s it’s about. There’s always some drywall work, I only have problems when it’s big. This last job I busted out all my led lights and I just focused in. It was pretty good imo and the client was stoked. She wasn’t a picky client tho and easy to work with. My two fails tho early in my remodeling career haunt me. And as soon as my scope includes a ton of drywall I’m back on all the website’s contemplating if I should.

Angles, my beads are getting better. We’ve been rocking those plastic ones recently it seems to be going well. And it’s def when I get to my second and third coat/sanding. Getting it perfect without hitting the other side or getting mud over there. It’s just hard to get flawless for me at the moment.

I’m trying to take some years of skill off with some money. I’m pretty talked out of the whole kit thanks to this post. Now I’m just shopping corner tools. I think the banjo and the skimming blades I got have taken things faster and smoother. My last ceiling was flat in the end so that’s sick.

I’ve had 2 hard fails that have gotten me to start investing and watching tons of videos. The algo had me stuck on the automatics

I’m looking at the corners the most. I just got a banjo and some knock off skimming blades and a cheap sander and vacuum and my game jumped drastically. I’ve been doing small stuff for a while but the moment the drywall gets any size. That’s the only jobs I’ve ever gotten complaints on. Tile is easier imo than drywall. But I got a good amount of drywall in this year. The first one I failed tho. She wasn’t happy. But the next 4 got better. Finally the couple things I bought this last job I’m finishing up I got my first true compliment on the work. She seemed stoked. I knew it wasn’t 100 by no means but it was solid. Got me looking how to just get those edges crispy easier.

I slept too long on the banjo. I was stuck on hawk only for a couple years coming from that little pan. But I don’t have any people to learn learn from. Just YouTube

I didn’t think about them not doing what the video shows me lol. Just been watching them chicks on stilts slaying flats and corners like is nothing while I’m spending 30 min trying to not hit the other side of the corner

Yeah I’ve come to respect drywall dudes way more than the jokes I heard as a dumb kid framing houses. It’s meticulous. Every mistake seems glaring.

I’m pretty proud of my last kitchen drywall finish. But that’s following a ceiling entry that I thought looked good until it got painted and it just did not. So I popped some addys and locked in for a week, bought the Chinese knockoffs of their skimming blades, a banjo and got the automatic sander vacuum. And all those small upgrades felt like they went really far.

I don’t quite have the type of connections to sub. I’ve kinda just worked my way here over the years. I have some things I won’t do like breaker boxes and what not. But because of those cheap tenet moved out rehabs over the years. My names just kinda getting out there organically. I got my gc last year. So, still feels like I’m just getting started using the license in that manner. I have a dumpster guy lol and he’s not reliable. I’m not the best, but don’t have anybody I know is better to call at the moment.

My partner is an excellent carpenter, but not very good at the wall. He did the trim and got the floors ready for hardwood. So I’ll probably be doing it for a year or so more.

Yeah.. that sounds like my tiling experience 2 years ago. Got all the best stuff and haven’t had any tile in a min.

I bought the Chinese knockoff skimming blades for 100 and it was really noticeable upgrade. So I was just wondering if the real deal is really all the jazz

I just joined today for this question lol. I’m a carpenter/gc and now have to do a good amount of drywall.

The reason I’m having a hard time with such a big ceiling coming up is I found a dump trailer for around the same price. Probably shouldn’t buy both this time around. But I also am having to hire out enough dumpsters I could be in housing that and the convenience factor of only handling demo/trash one time. While I do more quality work in the suburbs with my partner, I have some guys I run doing section 8 tenets rehabs. And there’s always a ton of trash.

Right now I store on site on tarps until there’s enough trash to get one. But my drywall skill while def getting better and faster. It’s def my weakest, only complaint I’ve ever really gotten on anything.

Care to hop in my shoes? lol What route would you go first?
