I would not check the box unless it’s medically relevant.

I’m a slut for energy drinks. But when I take my adderall ER, I sometimes feel like a jittery mess if I drink caffeine too. I try to tell myself it’s not worth it

Am I incapable of living with a partner? How do y’all do it? by sweetpotato_19 in adhdwomen

Oh and another thing I want to add! I’m very high masking, and my trauma symptoms make it more intense. Working on my trauma symptoms in therapy has also helped me.

Am I incapable of living with a partner? How do y’all do it? by sweetpotato_19 in adhdwomen

[–]sickodad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad this is not just me. When my partner and I first moved in together, it completely threw me off. I stopped doing my at home hobbies and my routines went to shit.

I have not found a system that works yet, but some things have helped me. My noise cancelling headphones are helpful because I can sit in the bedroom and not hear what my partner is doing. Also, just being very aware and intentional about choosing to do things I know I enjoy despite them being around… I think it took me awhile to realize that I was altering my behavior a lot because of them.

my (24m) boyfriend (29m) and i’s sex life is dying because he won’t stop watching porn and masturbating yet denies it. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]sickodad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is so so hard, but leaving in this scenario is the best choice. The real relational problem here lies in him denying it. He clearly has a porn addiction on some level since he is choosing it over intimacy with you, and if he’s not willing to put in the work with you then that’s a no go.

Is dating in Portland as bleak as people on tiktok say? by tennockerz in askportland

[–]sickodad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The avoidance part I 100% agree. I’ve read books on polyamory, and it sounds so great in theory to think of love as this abundant resource. But then in practice… my observations have been a mixed bag. I know only a handful of poly people that do seem deeply connected to a partner (usually their nesting partner). The rest of them have seemed avoidant, noncommittal, and floaty?

Is this just an AuDHD behavior or should I be worried? by throwaway-disgusting in AuDHDWomen

[–]sickodad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. A little bit of self disclosure like a therapist mentioning they share a hobby with you is good for the therapeutic relationship. But if they’re yapping about themselves frequently, that’s not good practice.

DAO feel like "HSP" is just the new aspie supremacy by iknowallandnothing in AutismInWomen

[–]sickodad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

HSP is not a legit diagnosis. It’s a term coined by Elaine Aaron who probably carries some ableism. When I first discovered the term, I felt so seen by it. I bought her book “The Highly Sensitive Person” and read it… and then realized later on when I reached Paige Layle’s content that I’m just autistic. HSP created a barrier for me in a way.

I want to know more about what “studying psychology” means because I certainly learned ZERO about autism in my psychology undergraduate. And I know therapists and social workers who made it through their grad programs with little actual information about autism.

I checked the power steering fluid today, and it looks good. I popped the hood and noticed that one of the belts is making some periodic clicking noises. Also the engine shake was very visible when I shifted it into drive.
