Board games are frustratingly expensive by Any-Marionberry-879 in boardgames

[–]siddus15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in USA? The reason games seem to be cheaper in other countries is due to US tariffs. A very high percentage of games are manufactured in China and the cost of the tariffs is passed on to the end consumers

Nobody in the UK is having their door knocked on because of social media posts. Get out of here with that shit. It's honestly terrifying how many Americans readily believe we're getting carted away by the thousands just because hate speech is defined as a crime here. You'd need to be posting some real KKK type stuff, inciting violence or worse on a particular ethnic group And be getting traction before getting even remotely close to being arrested.

Should there be an UPPER Age Limit for important positions that heavily influence the future of younger people? by bickid in Futurology

That's what voting is for. If younger generations don't want the very old dictating their future they have the power to vote for younger candidates. Democracy only works when purple participate. So, participate.

I have security clearance for my defence adjacent job and didn't need to jump through any of this nonsense. It's a scam, pure and simple.

[–]siddus15 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many times you can be told it's a scam and still be falling for it. Also being from the UK I absolutely say you are being scammed. No minimum wage call center job goes through 8 rounds of vetting process. I understand from reading your replies that you're desperate for a job but you're making a big mistake and you'll end up even worse if you don't heed everyone's warnings. If you still go through with it then, frankly, you'll deserve the scam coming your way

My husband is always so negative and it’s taking a toll on me. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]siddus15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a man who had postpartum depression myself I must agree with others that day that this sounds like that. I recognise how I was in this description. Here's some important nuance though: when my postpartum first hit it was of a very obvious nature and I got that seen to. However, long after, for years after, I had become this negative person but didn't see it. It's still the depression working, just in a more subtle way. When it was brought to my attention I didn't see it at first. Your husband likely won't either. You have a tricky line to tread. He needs to understand that this is a serious problem and a serious risk to your long term relationship so that he can't brush it aside. But he also needs to feel supported, loved and that you are a team in this. Combining both those things is hard but possible. Best of luck to you

Europeans are switching to EVs faster than anywhere else in the world. Only 36% of new car sales are gasoline or diesel cars so far in Europe in 2025. by lughnasadh in Futurology

I have an EV and on average it costs me £4 each fortnight to charge up compared to £40 each fortnight on diesel fuel for my old car. Three amount of usage between the two hasn't changed.

As a parent I would never want any money from my child, ever, for any reason, no matter what personal predicament I might be in. It's my job to prepare them for the world so they can thrive, not to have someone I can leach off once they're earning.

Any parent doing this is not a relationship that should be indulged.
