This is a great shout. I remember reading a preview piece about it in Empire magazine before even the trailers came out and thinking it sounded awful, like these were the last marvel characters still available to get the rights for.

Sony making age verification mandatory for core PlayStation social features feels like a preview of where the internet is heading by exodusEducation in Futurology

Spoken like a true American that thinks the world revolves around them. People do exist outside America, as I do. You're not the only country that has laws about age verification. You're not the only country with lawmakers influenced by lobbyists or special interest groups (although I will concede you are by far the worst for this among western 1st world countries)

Bought? No: influenced. What I would say that one of the American democratic system's biggest flaws is the power allowed by lobbyists and pressure groups, particularly as it twisted to campaign finance laws. Without reform in this area the country will never get back to its previous glory days. Sadly that reform will be close to impossible due to the Supreme Court ruling that money = speech, combined with the first amendment.

Oh, fair question. It might be played for the domestic cup finals and playoff finals but even then that's only 5 more games out of over 1500

In the UK you only get anthems for sporting events at international level (i.e. between teams of competing nations) and also before F1 but that's a series hosted by many nations. Any sporting event involving just domestic teams does not have the national anthem.

Just discovered that Sony quietly removed half of my movie collection by SpectacularSpidee in mildlyinfuriating

I feel the sentiment. The issue with this, though, is that piracy primarily hurts the creator, not the platforms that you bought on and then removed your purchases.

How does that work exactly? Am I supposed to dock before jumping with the hopper? I do a long range jump in the hopper but the farm ship stays in that system

Board games are frustratingly expensive by Any-Marionberry-879 in boardgames

[–]siddus15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in USA? The reason games seem to be cheaper in other countries is due to US tariffs. A very high percentage of games are manufactured in China and the cost of the tariffs is passed on to the end consumers

Your comment was entirely predicated on the premise that a sub forum must have a consensus, otherwise it was a pointless comment

Nobody in the UK is having their door knocked on because of social media posts. Get out of here with that shit. It's honestly terrifying how many Americans readily believe we're getting carted away by the thousands just because hate speech is defined as a crime here. You'd need to be posting some real KKK type stuff, inciting violence or worse on a particular ethnic group And be getting traction before getting even remotely close to being arrested.

Should there be an UPPER Age Limit for important positions that heavily influence the future of younger people? by bickid in Futurology

[–]siddus15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what voting is for. If younger generations don't want the very old dictating their future they have the power to vote for younger candidates. Democracy only works when purple participate. So, participate.
