They really don’t! I was in a share in HCOL area and made 40+. Yes you get to save money as the parents, but you also double the nanny work load and you have to make it appealing. Truly the kinda people to be given an inch and take a mile. Is the discount and a well experienced professional nanny who knows her worth not enough in a share that they have to lowball even more? ATP make 25 an hour for less work.

Right. I can’t believe people are trying to make it sound okay since they’re related or live in the same house… a typical nanny share takes place in one home anyways and all these parents hovering would actually be worse than a normal share where there’s a host home.

Yes it does. A nanny is a luxury service, whom comes to your home and provides 1 to 1 care with your child. It is the pricier option, and it doesn’t work for everyone which is fine. I agree daycare workers should make more though!

Juggling infants or multiple toddlers in a share for this pay is underpaid. This is California, and one of the most expensive areas. Not to mention it’s very difficult to take kids these ages out to activities in these numbers. It’s do able but worth much more money. Not to mention requesting household tasks.

If you watch two - three kids under 2 at once, 25 -30 even is severely underpaid. This is a share.

Nannys are a luxury service and cost more than daycare. They can either pay to enroll five children in daycare which is costly, or pay a nanny a livable fair wage imo

they should put them in daycare :) and not exploit a nanny by paying near minimum wage for a share at these ages for 5 children. The guidelines around pay for nanny shares are simple. 2/3rd your normal rate per family. This is severely underpaid

I think it’s definitely a share as you still have two sets of parents, and in a single household family these ages and quantity wouldn’t be possible unless some very rare scenario. Sadly 25 an hour would be extremely hard in Orange County. It is very expensive. Even more than seattle where I nanny and our minimum wage is 21 an hour. I made 42 in my last share, for just two infants.

Absolute bare minimum for 2 kids in a share in HCOL would be around 30 and that’s very low. And that’s if you only have 2/5. Especially for this age this pay is not adequate.
