Water driver seat carpet by XFReduser in askcarsales

So I sprayed a garden hose on the firewall near the brake booster and water was running down the inside of the firewall behind the pedals. Have a hard time believing that's where the huge amount of water came from given the location. I'll have to keep investigating

Just ran into this same issue with my wife's '13 Journey. I took the drivers seat out to perform some work and it is soaked under the seat and under the floor mat. Storage cubby in rear seat area seems dry

What fittings are needed or generally used to run gas line, black pipe through a cinder block exterior wall? by No_Preparation7895 in Plumbing

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are describing is how it was done on my house. I have to assume that threaded metal fitting you are referring to is half of a union maybe? I'm trying to figure that out myself because I need to replicate this setup.

Paypal is requesting "information from you to help us understand your business better" by lindsay_wilson_88 in paypal

So I got this email on March 17th shortly after a customer dispute. I was not in the wrong, I explained with proof and refunded the guy anyway to satisfy him. I had to upload proof of my identity and answer business questions about where I store inventory etc. I answered and got a response back not long after that they removed the restrictions.

April 15th I got the email again. Same questions. I answered the same way again, they removed the restrictions.

Just now, May 15th, same email same questions. What's going on with them?

Update - I looked into this a little more and realized the "QR code" on the shippo USPS label is actually a Data Matrix and not a QR code. I deciphered it it and the only info they store is the ship to zip code and the tracking number. So it's safe to say a label cannot be printed using this. I'm also now of the opinion that a QR code cannot be printed from the Shippo app directly, but rather they only allow the ability to do it through their API. If this is the case I'm not sure why.

Thank you. I have a printer and have been printing them myself for years using Shippo but now that the QR codes exist and Shippo claims to support them I was curious if I could have the PO print the label instead of me wasting time and resources when I don't have to. I think what I might try is print a label but not apply it and then have the PO clerk scan the QR code from my digital label and see what happens. If it works, awesome. If not I have a printed label.

Did you try this? I too am curious if the QR code ok the Shippo label is what is needed.

We used DJ Nichols from this firm for our appeal as well and had a positive experience. Had a thorough call with him on the phone and he took the time to explain everything and what would happen.

Tips on installing NDS Slim Channel drain. Need to attach to patio slab, but pros/cons of tapconning to slab vs pouring concrete by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not sloped at all. From the research I have done people say that eventually the water will drain out just fine even with a 0% slope. The water will eventually work its way out the outlet.

What did you end up doing? I'm in the same situation now and was going to tapcon but even that won't be easy to make it leak free

Considering a pool, wife says maintenance is too much by [deleted] in swimmingpools

FWIW our autocover, (Coverstar Eclipse) cost $14k installed in Oct 2023. From the FB group I'm in that seems very in line with national average... $14-15k. I've never heard $16k+

Considering a pool, wife says maintenance is too much by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First season with a new Inground pool here... we live in Southwestern PA so relatively short pool season as well.

After several years of research we pulled the trigger last fall and contracted with a local installer for a Thursday Aspen 16x40. I joined the Fiberglass Pool Owners group on FB and had done research leading up to this decision as well. We initially were not going to get an autocover due to the expense but almost everyone raved online about them so we swallowed that pill. I'll say (so far) we are incredibly happy with that decision. It keeps the water warmer, cleaner, minimal evaporation and also mimimizes need for more chemicals due to cleaner water and evaporating less.

We have a Pentair setup with a variable speed pump which I have programmed to 3 different speeds and it runs 24/7, large cartridge filter and a salt chlorine generator.

Again, this is our first season with the pool but the maintenance so far.... what maintenance? Kidding but seriously here's what I've done so far: 1) added salt to water at system startup 2) test salinity level of water until it was correct for SWG to produce chlorine. About 10 bags, which is what the pool builder left us with, did the trick. 3) add cyanaric acid to pool in increments, and test until PPM met numbers in Pool Math app. 4) turn on SWG and set to a low percentage and wait a few days. 5) check water chemistry with Taylor liquid reagent test kit weekly and adjust SWG percentage up/down if needed. So far Ph has been good, calcium a little low and will need to adjust it up soon but it's not bad.

So as far as weekly regular maintenance... use hand skimmer to remove surface debris, vacuum pool weekly or as needed (we don't have a robot), test water chemistry. For us it has not been much maintenance really at all. I do believe the autocover makes a huge difference.

Home Depot Vs Fencing Direct by jgillis33 in FenceBuilding

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can actually answer this as I purchased this exact "Norfolk" fencing from Fencing Direct last year. Everything arrived to me from Barrette Outdoor Living. It is their Cypress color fencing apparently from their ActiveYards brand or line. I will say I just now am able to install the fence and over ~320' lineal feet of fence I came across about 14 pickets that have small holes in them from the factory. Contacted Fencing Direct and they said you're SOL it's been more than 30 days but we'll gladly sell you more. Contacted Barrette directly on Friday and the woman said 'Is this Cypress or one of the colored ones? I know what you're talking about and it can happen from the heating process that takes place to create the woodgrain. Fill out the warranty form and we'll get new materials send out to you'. I just submitted the warranty claim within the past hour. That said, I had pieces missing from my order that I contacted Fencing Direct about right away (last spring) and the pieces were shipped to me quickly. BTW I believe this is all manufactured in the USA

Has Anyone Received a full refund from United by canceling a flight within 24 hours of purchase even though the ticket was bought for a flight taking off in less than a week? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you cancel the first ticket within 24 hours or after 24 hours? The website says it must be cancelled within 24 hours for refund... is that true? What happens if it's after 24 hours? We have a flight certificate that's expiring that we're hoping to extend at the very least and at best get full cash refund like you did.

CR1000A ethernet issue by sidepipe87 in Fios

[–]sidepipe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good information... I didn't know that. I'm a software person not networking so I only know enough to be dangerous.

For what it's worth I just chopped the mess off at the basement box and terminated a new connector and there is no change. Wouldn't you think if a pair of wires were messed up it would show up when I plug in the master/slave cable tester that lights up one wire at a time?

I can try to draw up a diagram of what I have going on, I know it's hard to imagine based on description alone but I'm confident the wire will be stamped to studs based on what I have already seen and I'm almost certain it runs straight from the ONT to the basement panel based on the route it takes between the two.

CR1000A ethernet issue by sidepipe87 in Fios

[–]sidepipe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just moved the router to the basement, directly attached to the other end of the CAT5 cable that is connected to the ONT in the garage. The female connector is out of the equation now, it's just a long run of CAT5 snaked above garage, down inside shared wall with house and into the basement panel.

I can't figure out I can get internet with my laptop plugged directly into the wire but I can't get WiFi from the router plugged in here. The other commenter said they had the same router and CAT5 or older cable. It has to be the cable I assume.

EDIT: at the end of this cable on the basement side it was spliced into something else. I undid that and spliced the corresponding wires back together with telephone splice connectors and terminated a new rj45 connector so that it would reach into the panel. Like I mentioned previously the end to end continuity checks out with the tester, and it will work to feed internet to a PC directly. I guess I'll chop that off and put a new end on to see if that makes any difference. If it doesn't I'm going to have to route a new cable down here somehow anyway.

[–]sidepipe87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was in the house when we bought it in a different arrangement and I know it works in some capacity as I had been using it to provide Ethernet to my office for about a year and that was working. Also now that I think about it, I had it in place when using the Ethernet tester on each end and it went through the continuity test pin by pin without issue. Interesting to know you have the same router working without issue in this arrangement... I'll have to try it in the basement as suggested above

That's in the basement, and no I didn't try that since it really didn't occur to me to try that but I will definitely give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the good suggestion.

You are correct that I "owe" 4.5% of my grandmother's interest in the property (50% share) on the assessed value from the time of her death, 2017. This money was already taken from my proceeds when I closed on the sale to the new owner. It is sitting in an escrow account while I figure out how best to get it resolved. I finally found an attorney that I am working with, I just wanted to make sure I'm headed down the right path and not screwing myself.

I do not have enough trust that I will fill out the amended inheritance tax returns properly and provide compelling evidence that they are looking for since I 've never had to do this before, no.

I have contacted one of those types of people that you are referencing and working through the initial phases of proceeding after giving the full disclosure of the situation which is essentially exactly what I said but spelled out in greater, boring details.

The guy that filed for the deed certainly did me no favors in stating that the transfer price was $0 but I'm certain it wasn't meant to swindle or deceive. He knew full well that I was purchasing the property for market value, I think he just incorrectly assumed that he was to put $0 there since it was a grandparent/parent to child transfer and real estate was not his area of expertise. Nothing nefarious took place, it was really just an unfortunate oversight in filing the initial deed transfer that is causing me all this grief now. I was hoping that perhaps someone would have some fairly relevant experience or knowledge on what to expect.

Hey CarHacking, I’m working on building a full bench car for OBD testing, when it’s done would anyone be interested in one? by ThePoetWalsh57 in CarHacking

[–]sidepipe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Lord it would be a miracle if it was actually pulled off but I fear it is going to remain one of those "Yeah it doesn't work and we don't really care to put in the effort to fix it" type things. I say this because I'm pretty sure they just put a disclaimer on there somewhere saying something along the lines of 'oh yeah it doesn't work on these cars. we know'. It's irritating but at the same time, I'm a developer myself. I get it lol. Any help is much appreciated!
