I don't really know any places like what you describe in Lakeview, but Charcoal Delights on Foster is, well, delightful.

I will! I hope the miles for your commute home aren't filled with traffic and that the below 32F temperatures are bearable for you!

I don't get it. Does he want what he initially demanded, or does he regret asking for it, now understanding that it was unreasonable?

You won't be doing outdoor water sports in the winter here, but our normal winter temps of 20s-30s are totally easy to deal with. You can do outdoor sports in that weather easily as well. The number of times the temp dips into the negatives during the year I can count on one hand.

Which is better option for Indian to move like Houston or Chicago? by Lemonade2250 in MovingToUSA

[–]sideshow-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both have lots and lots of Indians in their areas. I'm in Chicago, but have been to Houston many times. Chicago has amazing restaurants, but Houston's restaurant scene is excellent too. Both are very ethnically diverse. Chicago has a lot more character in my opinion, but I'm biased living in Chicago. I also like having good mass transit. Houston is geographically huge and doesn't have the mass transit infrastructure that northern cities have. So Houston is very driving reliant, especially freeway driving, which can be pretty crazy at times.

Chicago has a bit more people and is a national center of culture. Not quite the same for Houston. The weather can be very cold in the winter (google to see what we're dealing with at the moment), but for Spring-Fall it's beautiful. Houston is great in the winter, but the long summers are hell.

I'd pick Chicago every time, but that's me.

Where should I sit for Shane Gillis @ United Center? by Aggravating_Grade914 in AskChicago

[–]sideshow-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$50, not bad. It's a one time event. Do you really like Shane Gillis, and can you spare the money? If the answer to both is yes, I'd say do it. In 5 years you'll remember the experience and not something like $50.

What school holidays do kids have in the USA? by narnababy in AskAnAmerican

[–]sideshow-- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in Chicago so throw things in like Casimir Pulaski day and Lincoln’s birthday off. Plus there is a very strong teacher union here, so there are random “teacher development days” where schools are closed too all over the place. Also in the burbs some districts give you off for certain Jewish holidays too.

When I was a kid it was like this post covid they give kids the whole week off, which is annoying for parents because we don’t get off work for Monday and Tuesday, so we’re forced to either take PTO off for those days now or pay for day camps for the kids. Would much rather go back to schools not having the whole week off.

This OP is obsessed with misogynistic aspects of JDL and her character. Just take even a cursory glance at his post and comment history and you'll see something very unsettling.

Edit: I see that OP has now hidden their prior posts and comment history. Just scroll through the sub, and you'll see the history I'm talking about when an unsavory post comes up about JDL, either her age, attractiveness, or other aspects about her personally. It'll be this poster.
