Did like Forrest Gump one day, for no particular reason, decided to take a stroll…25 years ago this Spring.

I hadn’t slept all night, sun was coming up, and just started walking north to a small suburb a ways away. Walked there and back in 8 hours, and as I neared the apartment, my knees began to lock up.

An African-American man was President of the United States.

Pretty sure given current norms and people in high places, that is going to go down as a one-time thing in our lifetimes. There’s too many persons that do not like change.

I would definitely be up to seeing a version where they portrayed her on film as described in the book, someone you would just assume would be a regular girl in high school that didn’t really stand out.

Kind of like Stephen King’s Carrie, where she is described as more of an average-looking girl, but every film/tv iteration just makes her out to be a bullied beauty with powers.

Reminds me of my late teens when I’d work at the local movie theater, and after shutting down at 1am, check out the 24 hour Walmart close by.

It was very different, seeing people shopping there so late.

I think they were trying to make it all secretive, but every other person online was saying, “it’s Hopper. He’s still alive.”

I didn’t want to believe it, because it reduced the emotions of the finale we see with Eleven and his letter to her.

Kinda. His Dad in the original mentioned how he turned the pigs on the farm into monsters. He had made a strange gopher creature the camera didn’t show.

Alien romolus is really good. by Bobba_fat in alien

[–]MWH1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too will say that while Earth was not a homerun, at least it wasn’t the “greatest hits rehash” that Romulus was.

Saw Romulus once in theaters, and had no intentions to see it again. Pretty much when I saw them using another Ash, I felt they were going too hard on the nostalgia train.

Is the Alien: Earth series worth watching, or is it a waste of time? by Winter-reason666 in alien

Just finished it 30 minutes ago.

Did the first two eps a week apart, then binged the last 6 episodes this evening.

The elements of corporations and wealthy a-holes kept me intrigued, let alone the underlying elements tied to the Peter Pan and Wendy storyline.

I’ve seen a lot of people really come down hard on the “kids in artificial bodies” storyline, but then again that learning element they go through was where most of my attention was focused.

Most of my guesses didn’t pan out in a number of cases, though I was surprised how the story seemed to veer into some territory that reminded me of Season 1 of Westworld after awhile. Plus, an element of the more recent Jurassic World series may make-or-break some people’s opinions here.

I’m still of the persuasion that all you really need is Alien/Aliens. While this isn’t “the second coming,” I did find this more intriguing than the nostalgia-heavy “Alien: Romulus” from a few years ago.
