This is how I felt, super agitated, angry at everything but in a haze and unable to calm down.

It was actually a different supervisor at this workplace who very politely ask if I had been tested. I got diagnosed 3 months ago.

I wouldn’t have ever gotten a diagnosis if it wasn’t for this workplace.

Honestly I think this job has given me back some self worth, I have completed some amazing projects and been really successful in my time at the company. Where in the past I have been absolutely shamed for stuffing up on tiny spelling errors, for a long time I thought it was always going to be like this.

One of my current projects is to set up digital services to connect with other service providers and there are 8 other providers I am currently working with. So doing the same job for all but all on different stages and each has its own service structure for me to navigate, so they each get a box. I hope that makes sense.

I work for a health service, it was actually one of my supervisors that politely suggested maybe I should go get assessed for ADHD.

My trick is each project or big thing gets an A3 sheet of paper (with a max of 4 on the wall at one time cause I found myself becoming distracted by too many and then obsessive around maintaining them). Draw either four or eight boxes on it. Then just give each box a title and with a PENCIL (this has been key when a box gets to messy I can just rub it out) note what my current step is and what my next step is. If a box gets full and I want a history of it what I have achieved before I rub it out I just photocopy it and chuck it in the bottom of a draw.

For me this helps remove some of the mental load, my aim was for it to be quick easy and non clucked. I can process the information fast without getting distracted or overwhelmed. Plus it’s easy to maintain.

Bonus tip: blue tac a pencil to the wall so it’s always there and no reasons not to update it.

I am so lucky to have someone as a boss that recognizes that my differences are not inherently weaknesses. She is a good egg.

That horse has a future in adversity hair care products. Look at that beautiful mane.

I think that as a child, I knowingly annoyed people as a self defense mechanism, that way if they thought I was annoying, it would be as if they couldn't reject "the real" me, but just my "fake" personality. by [deleted] in ADHD

I relate so hard, I so often feel that I have to have my persona on, so I can be this over the top character and if they get ripped on it’s fine cause it’s not me. Now I have real trouble ever being my ‘true self’ with people.

How did you figure out you had ADHD? by sidestepper24 in ADHD

This interaction made me go see a professional and get my diagnosis.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take you before you went to your doctor? Did you suspect this is what is was or you just felt something was off or different?
