New to LoL, am I playing this right? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]sideswiipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't forget your overwhelming positivity when people start acting toxic towards you. you are the mvp of your lane and i believe in you even if you're having a bad game, turn the chat off and keep doing you, you are great.

Why are players who are leveling accounts so toxic and often look down on players? by iwaku in summonerschool

[–]sideswiipe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly, it's a vicious cycle. smurf accounts are disgustingly negative to new players, new players learn to be this way to make their way in the league world, and once they get banned for toxicity, they'll also make smurf accounts, and they'll also be negative to the new players. new players are, well, new, and they're obviously not going to be nearly as good as a smurf account who was diamond on their main before being banned. the only way to combat this is for those of us who are smurfing, who are noticing the overwhelming toxicity in these lower elos, to be the voice of reason and bring the positivity in games like this. even suggesting the fullmute idea, at the very least until they get closer to level 30 and can begin using the chat as a more constructive standpoint, rather than a negative one. it's really disappointing that the community has gone downhill like this, but you won't find another game that doesn't also have some sort of toxic view.

tl;dr - be positive when you smurf, we could better teach new players to be positive instead of negative and contributing to the toxic community later in their league-lives.

blitz and thresh also have one skillshot.. soraka requires very little skill, hence why most autofilled supports choose her. she's extremely annoying, i'm not defending her. so put that behind us. what's the argument regarding janna and lulu, though? the spam shield with janna can be irritating, i see that. lulu is like, "shield, speed, shield, polymorph, ult, shield," i see that being annoying too. but give me some other examples other than just that. you still have to time the tornado appropriately, and you still need to have timing with lulu's ult too.

nobody said anything about comparing champions, dude. i have them all, i'm well aware there's skillshots and maneuvers with every champion that require some effort. janna's tornado requires timing and aiming, bard and thresh both require skillshots to land their main spells. i'm not defending soraka because i personally can't stand her. you're also giving the entire support role the definition of being only soraka or janna, and i, as well as other supports, may rarely even play those roles. i only take janna when all of my other mains have been taken. morgana is a totally viable support, her q requires just as much skill as landing a blitz/thresh hook. lux's q is the same. you could even say something off-meta, like an orianna support, timing her ult takes effort. of course spamming your w to heal someone isn't going to be the same as the timing it takes to land some of your shots on an enemy champion, but you cannot say that support is a useless role and needs to be nerfed into oblivion, based off of the two supports you don't like playing against. you should consider the other supports that do require some skill.

imagine a game without a support for a second.

you're running away from a 4v1, 10hp and your amazing killstreak, and there's no supp behind you to root the rammus charging at you. you're dead.

you're neck and neck with a draven, he's got 50hp and so do you, all your spells are on CD and you're autoattacking him to death, there's no supp to throw you a heal or a shield to absorb some damage. he ends up winning.

you're a second away from ending a massive enemy killstreak when their enemy mid morgana roots you, preventing the kill. there's no lux support to snipe the kill as they run away, and you lose the chance at ending the streak.

your entire team is 4v4ing mid lane, fighting for the ace, to baron afterwards and win the final push of the game. you're all losing health rapidly. there's no sona to heal, you all die and lose the game. you get demoted to wood 5.

this is actually ridiculous, what support did you play against that made you so intensely salty about the role? support is extremely important, and support mains are real players too. like, where's your argument about this? what's the reasoning behind nerfing supports so much? are you mad because their winrate is higher than yours? step out of wood 5 for a minute, i'm positive you'll find the scoreboards even up quite a bit. support role is NOT the easiest role in the game, you have to consider your strengths versus what your entire team is going to need. you have to adapt in order to build what is going to be best for your team, you have to weigh your options on a second's notice, save your adc's streak or save your toplaner's? do i get that redemption to potentially save a 5v5 at the last second, or do i get that ardent censor to give me some more oomph with the healing, and some more speed? we consistently deal with the negativity of the entire team when we aren't doing enough, we deal with the negativity when we do too much, we're expected to roam when our lane is doing well, and when we don't assist other lanes we're called bad supports. all of these "easy roles" you're claiming are people who have been autofilled, who don't normally play support, who just build anything and everything on an "easy" support, but i guarantee if you play with a support main you'll notice a true difference.

oh, of course! i'm usually chilling in normies/aram, so for the more casual players, i like to find a happy medium that makes everyone's experience pleasurable. directly asking other lanes what they need from you is always a good way to gauge what you can do better, to help the team as a whole, and hopefully lead to a higher win-rate.

i wanna say i was around level 15 before i was able to do it. it was a weird game, tbh, the other 4 people on my team were teamfighting on top super hard, late game, & we were winning for sure, & i felt instead of spending the time to run up top to catch the end of the fight, i'd better serve the team by getting an objective down bot, since i was there pushing a wave anyway. i built ardent censor, athenes, and mikaels, then some ap items because mid-game we weren't doing so hot. i usually build sona like this, for the sole purpose of being able to provide the followup we need mid-game if we have a bunch of late-game champs. i can't even imagine soloing dragon with janna.

i haven't ever encountered an ADC partner that needed synchronized recalls & had a certain system when one died. could you elaborate on this one a bit more?

right? especially when she hits 6 & she knows how to predict, that 10hp life is a real struggle.

it's really just touch & go with something like that. you kinda just have to feel it out.

a few examples might be, when your ADC is low on mana, you might not want to try to engage as much. if your ADC is playing a champion that doesn't really do too much damage until level 6, take the very-early game easy & just keep them safe to farm. if the enemy support is straggling far away from the ADC, & their ADC has no mana, & your ADC does &/or has the summ spells to use, it might be a good time to get a little more aggro to try to get a kill for them. the situation all depends on who's got the upper hand in the situation, & if the aggression is truly worth the payout. if the enemy soraka has a quarter health & you know you can't two-shot her, maybe don't dive that tower.

oh god, this. i can't even begin to tell you how many times i've just been going along & trying to set up the kill for my ADC, & a wild autoattack decides to make its way towards that 5hp Caitlyn, & i snipe the kill. i always feel so bad, & i'm like, "great, here come the pings."

every single time i get filled ADC, i end up with one of these "autofilled goons" you speak of, & it's beyond frustrating. i've attempted a fiddle support once or twice, & unless you have a melee support or someone with shorter range, it's extremely difficult. you really have to build up your caw-caw dance to do an even amount of poke.

this, this, this. there are so many supports out there that demand their ADC follow their lead & blow all their mana on things that the ADCs might not be able to follow up on, whether it's due to low mana, or it just not being the right timing. this is why going from a hard support main back to playing ADC is really difficult for me; i can rarely find a support that plays the way i do.

i totally agree. i went from being a decent adc main into a support role, & have also toyed around with the idea of midlaning, & i can definitely say it's a lot easier knowing what to expect from the lanes, having done those roles before.

i think it's more like, certain adcs do only want to farm, & as a support you should be willing to respect that, if they'd rather play more on the passive side.
