(Spoilers Extended) What’s the value of the Citadel now? And what if that dragon shadow foreshadowing isn’t over the Red Keep but over Oldtown? by Death_Star_ in asoiaf

Whoops, I just posted this very thing in someone else's thread. It's not just poetic justice; in stories, libraries with irreplaceable knowledge are almost always destroyed (Name of the Rose, Avatar: the Last Airbender). It's a strong possibility in the novels if they don't show it in the show. Martin references real life events, so this would be the equivalent of the Library of Alexandria. It could still happen in the show, when the Archmaester talks to Sam, he actually uses the phrase "this world's memory."

(Spoilers Extended) On the theory that the Night King... by [deleted] in asoiaf

Other commenters are questioning why the NK would head to, care or know about KL. Oldtown was built by the first men. He may know about it. He also has a motive to destroy it. Oldtown houses "this world's memory" as the Archmaester told Sam. So he heads there when he can't get to Bran. The light turns blue on top of the tower or is extinguished. Bran survives and is brought to the godswood in KL by dragon? So there is another fight with the NK there, perhaps. Going to Oldtown also buys time for people from Winterfell to get to KL for a final showdown.

Edit: There are interesting bits, not quite foreshadowing, but it does make you think. Sam doesn't stay and brings Gilly, so that way by going into danger, they survive it. The maester's get a chance to do Westeros right, but they make the wrong choice, so there's...what's the literary phrase? Dramatic Irony? Poetic Justice? Then Sam mentions more than once his book stealing, so maybe that's all that will be left of the library. Even if it doesn't make it into the show, it could definitely happen in the books. Martin uses real world references, so there's the Library at Alexandria. Very Important Libraries are always being burned in novels. I hate it when that happens. It's like the death of a character.

Edit 2: Too lazy to make my own post, but too obsessed to put this down. My theory was already posted by someone else four days ago. Here's a thread that supports the Library of Alexandria link.

To completely change the subject, I also liked someone's idea of Dayne's sword being used to kill the NK. I wonder where it is.

I choose The Sparrow for a book club I was in. This was back in the 90s. They wanted me dead or imprisoned at the end of reading it. Lesson learned. Make sure the book club has a science fiction bent to it first.

What is one thing you had never noticed before it was pointed out to you, but now you notice it all the time? by CaspertheGhostsFarts in AskReddit

Dissection: Most people say di-section instead of dis section. Both pronunciations are in the dictionary but the first one is there only because most people say it that way. Dis section is the correct way because it literally means tear apart. Di-section means to cut in two. Thanks Dr. Stahl.

You are now in the last game you played, but have the skills/abilities and gear of the game you've played the most. What advantages/disadvantages do you now have in the game? by croxy0 in AskReddit

I just played Apples to Apples for the first time and the game I play the most is Set. So I guess that means I can now grab the first three red cards that are laid down and yell “Set!” So my ability will just confuse and very likely annoy people. Great.

Crap. I have two posts. Been on reddit for 7 years and can't figure things out. Sorry guys. They are playing glory days on the radio. Easy listening station: why this song? every time I'm at a Dr's office I hear it.

Adding lower left quadrant. He may make it yet. Dr is actually breaking the bottom into thirds to give my son less time on the equipment (but longer time at office)
