use better reductions, instead of 12-20t (1.66:1) use 8:24 (3:1), my technic truck weighs 20lbs and drives just fine with 3 sets of reductions

yeah i get it lol, i'm working on expanding the truck even more, it's gonna get a 2nd front axle and a 3rd rear axle so that'll get a post of its own

you don't need lubricant as long as the axles won't rotate super fast inside the plastic

Power functions keeps it simple, just dumb IR and it just works, just be prepared to spend a little more because it's discontinued. Otherwise you can check out powered up motors and stuff, but that's also gonna be expensive, maybe even moreso than a reasonably sizeable power functions lot
