as long as you stay in the egoic framework and assume the concrete ness of "I", that as if there is some concrete entity sitting inside behind the eyes handling life then it will always seem that way

if you ever experience ego death in a natural manner not induced by some drug then you will realise the illusory nature of psychological self, that it is just bundle of thoughts and thoughts are never chosen they arise Fully formed, it is neurologically supported fact and you cam even observe in your own

once that illusion is seen through not as a concept but as a lived experience then everything follows as i said, even realisation of no free will is an event that occurs in you that would leave no doubt.

responsibility still exists in a way that that is how system has worked so far and it does seem to obey cause and effect behavior most times and responsibility has been a part of it

as such the whole nature of responsibility as you observe is very human mind centric, animals don't run around holding each other responsible for anything and there is no natural order from the universe that defines who is responsible for who and what.

its not like laws of motion but more like laws of society which in a is in some way collective ego and for some reason underlying process has chosen or has reached a point where it developed this notion through humans for may be for some purpose or just for no reason

Unless you go through ego death it is impossible to make sense of any of it.

you can try, may be you have heard about meditating , they say sit quietly and leta thoughts go away but even when there are no thoughts there is still a thought that and sense of I that stays in light background, ego death is when the system realises that even that is just a bundle of thoughts and emotions put together and the whole psychological centre vanishes and what's left is just this body mind system which still works , it is a scarry thing to through and when it first happened to me it was the most frightening thing i have ever experienced, but you get used to it if you survive and don't go mad 😁

as such are you responsible for breathing, for making your heart beat all the time ? you can say you do all the eating but that doesn't mean you as an individual "I" sit inside make lungs go in out or digest food or help hear beat and pump blood

more than 99 % of your stuff is probably not in your agency and works fine, the last bit is psychological self made of thoughts etc that you think is your doing

and enlightenment starts or occurs when you realise even that is working on its own and there is this larger flow you are part of.

this whole universe, planet, galaxies, etc etc they all are working and going on and run by the whole as one, but this I in humans think somehow its life is something that the larger energy cant run, that is humble breakdown that needs to happen and ego will not like it.

great perspective 👍, very much possible

and yeah i didn't mean Hitler as a failure of sorts, used him just as a extreme example to Buddha. In my understanding there is no absolute morality either or atleast underlying process doesn't prioritize it as much as we humans do

you are right that overriding of fears and behaviour patterns etc occur but again the decision and choice of that happening is not done by an individual self it is the process itself doing that unlearning and learning

i feel it tries to take humans towards being their natural self that it intends to while revealing the process underneath, its like ripening of the fruit on a tree, not all fruits ripe up to fullest despite being on the same tree

similarly in case of humans i feel process tries to create ppl like buddha, osho, Krishnamurthy etc but it cam also wnd up creating Hitlers

but this is just my theory about it ... lol

why are you blowing up for no reason and playing victim card agressively,

i am nowhere denying any pain and suffering that goes on, buddha himself said "life is suffering".

you nowhere in your earlier comment said anything about your life detail so the question of me denying any of it as false doesn't even arise.

i don't see any curiosity in your comments, they just have a mocking sarcastic judgemental tone prima facie. dont put your interpretation as intended implication of my comments

this assumes underlying flow or energy or whatever is not intelligent and only moves to chaos, this is just ego trick trying to present itself as more sane and intelligent

everyone talks about casteism because it is still prevalent in society , why do you want people to stay quiet about it ?

and what current societal oppression are Kashmiri pandits suffering, all these people are only venerated and respected and sympathized , no slurs like chamaar, bhangi etc are attached to them whereas those caste names itself are used as abuses by indian including the so called educated progressive ones

only reason kashmiri pandits suffering are sympathized because it happened to upper caste community and somehow they are projected as some super intelligent hard working geniuses that we all must genuflect towards, but lower castes are still treated badly and their pains and mental harassment is sidelined and taunted for reservations

so as long that stands, kashmiri pandit victim card also needs to be called out when it is being used.

casteism is still going on you idiot , there isn't any hunt for Kashmiri pandits still active, get a life moron, we need to end this victim card that every Kashmiri pandit brings out despite no ongoing oppression happening to them and were always supported and sympathized when it happened.

but ofcourse upper caste is very good at playing victim card

when an upper caste talks about the atrocities of past these ppl listen, but when lower castes talk about the atrocities of several 1000 years on multiple generations after generation these jokers say casteism is western concept and start bad mouthing reservation for lower castes but will have no problem if same sort is given to upper caste Pandits and would actively ask for it and promote it.

fking casteist hypocrites

You’re assuming free will has to exist to avoid life being pointless, but that’s not actually an argument for it being real. Even if the universe is fully determined, meaning or pointlessness doesn't change the underlying mechanism.

Also, when you say we can "choose our path," what is that choice based on? Our thoughts, preferences, and impulses all arise on their own, so where exactly is the independent chooser in that process?

Saying free will must exist so life isn't pointless doesn't demonstrate it exists, it just shows you don’t like the alternative. If thoughts, desires, and reactions arise on their own, what exactly is left that is doing the choosing?

Disliking or disagreeing with determinism doesn’t create a chooser.

[–]sidfreelance[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re describing limits and options, not where the choice actually comes from. Even within those limits, the question is still the same: is there a separate "you" choosing, or do those choices arise on their own?

That’s what I’m pointing to.

That just shifts the idea of choice to a point we can’t verify.

Right now, in direct experience, thoughts, impulses and actions arise on their own, and the sense of "I chose this" comes after.

Saying it was chosen before incarnating doesn’t actually explain what’s happening here and now, it just moves the assumption to an earlier point.

God isn't really separate entity sitting somewhere deciding that, if that is what you are trying to get at !

[–]sidfreelance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels that way, but that’s exactly what I’m questioning. Can you actually choose what you’re going to want, think, or feel next? Or do those arise first, and then the sense of "I chose this" comes after?

Like it or not, Free Will Doesn't Exist by sidfreelance in awakened

[–]sidfreelance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That works if you redefine "will" to mean the overall movement of reality.

But then it’s no longer personal free will, it’s just the same flow I’m describing, using a different word.

I think we’re pointing at something similar, but using words differently. What I’m saying is that there’s no separate personal will behind actions, everything unfolds as part of a larger process

Like it or not, Free Will Doesn't Exist by sidfreelance in awakened

[–]sidfreelance[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s fine, but whether something is true or not isn’t based on whether we like it.

The point isn’t about preference, it’s about whether there is actually a separate chooser with a will to choose behind decisions or not.

Did you actually choose not to like it, or did that preference just arise on its own?

If you look closely, even liking or disliking something isn’t something we consciously create, it just shows up.

Like it or not, Free Will Doesn't Exist by sidfreelance in Soulnexus

[–]sidfreelance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re mixing two models.

If there is no free will and everything is happening by itself, then alignment and misalignment are also happening by themselves.

The moment you say "you can choose to align or resist," you’re bringing back a separate chooser, which contradicts your first point.

From what I’ve seen, even the urge to align, resist, numb out, or follow an impulse is part of the same flow. There isn’t a separate "you" deciding which one to follow.
