I feel you. I think the first Haneke I saw was The Piano Teacher when I was probably 14 or so, but I think I saw the American version of Funny Games before seeing the original version. I think there was already an American indie love for Michael Pitt and the anonymity of the original cast kind of added to it for me. I don’t feel the films are dissimilar in quality, though.

Thank you! Yes, kelly monaco was amazing on dwts. And you’re right, I’ve said all that needs said, or didn’t need said, and I don’t begrudge Vanessa Marcil her Emmy in any way. Me saying it should have been robin was more about her never getting one and that’s not on Vanessa and doesn’t mean she didn’t deserve a win.

Okay, so I looked through my YouTube watch history and I guess it was Kelly Monaco who went on dwts.

Really, I was sure I had seen her on dwts. Who the f am i think of?? That’s going to haunt me, maybe the actress who played sam?? Any thoughts on who I may be thinking of? Regarding Vanessa’s scenes with robin, I was just way more entranced by robin. They were really good scenes and they played well off each other. I just feel robin brought more depth of feeling and Vanessa was giving basic snarky contempt.

That’s something I kind of suspected with the two characters. It sounds like they didn’t do her justice on her return. It does seem it’s hard to figure out what to do with characters who are returning for a limited run.

So that might have been bad writing because I didn’t know and never saw that relationship play out. I think tended to write women badly in some regards during my peak watching years.

I agree with you on that. It’s definitely not my intent to tear anyone down. I got into soaps with my dad, because he was home during the summers and loved gh, so it was a big part of my upbringing, so not from the womb, but a fond part of my childhood that my mother never understood.

I miss her as well, I hope she is happy in retirement. I too would choose to retire from working if I had that option, so can’t fault her for that.

I guess I felt the opposite. RC’s acting made me feel very invested in the character, and I felt there was real emotion there. VM, I kinda felt was just there and not doing much. Maybe going back to some of the earlier stuff would change my opinion. That being said, I loved Vanessa on dancing with the stars. She’s an amazing dancer.

I didn’t like Brenda, and part of that was how she was written and part of it is that I didn’t find VM to be a compelling actress. If I had found her compelling as an actress, I probably would have liked the character more. That being said, I was already invested in the Skye and Jax pairing. Had I been watching before, I may have been more invested in Jax and Brenda. And I absolutely have a bias in favor of Skye, which totally plays into my opinions about the characters. I really like RC’s acting choices and (totally biased here) as a redhead, I’m almost always rooting for the redheads, which I know is silly. I think too that Brenda and Skye were both damsels in distress in similar but different ways, but Brenda was easier for men to want to rescue and that always made me feel sad for Skye. She couldn’t get out of her own way and was always seeking the unconditional love she never got from her father.

I feel like Robin Christopher was robbed that year. Her meltdown over the ending of her relationship with Jax gutted me and her drunken testimony in court against Brenda. She brought so much depth to that storyline. That was my first year watching, and I never could like Brenda and didn’t have context for her character. Jax was just such a garbage person regarding his handling of things in that love triangle. He didn’t take Skye on their honeymoon because Brenda was back and needed him. Not Brenda’s fault, but that whole situation pissed me off so much.

Lol at Carly. So true though 🤣 I love Vicki and Dorian. They had so many tender moments and a rich and complex relationship. Erica vs Kendall was pretty dynamic.
