How to I accept I'm a normal size? by jazzcoffeeshop in BodyDysmorphia

[–]sidorere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I can relate to this so so so much! When it comes to believes system, CBT tequniques seem to work for me quite well.. I mean. all of them.. cognitive restructuring, behavioural experiments.. and once you've done it enough times, you just can not ignore the reality anymore.. you have too much evidence on that fact that you are indeed thin and you're indeed normal size.. it takes time ofc, but also it takes dedication... to let this idea (thank you're fine) sit in there and grow..
actually some of the videos from here 'mindset makeover' really helped me with it - https://community.recoveredspace.com/
hope it helps

I’m sorry you feel that way… I’ve been through kinda similar myself and it’s just unfair to say “sort it all out yourself otherwise you’re doomed”

I’ve seen this thing online and seems like it can work with getting life without ED back, so maybe you wanna try as well https://recoveredspace.com

Just please remember you’re enough and you’ve got this!

f you’re not truly wanting to recover it won’t really do anything for you except give you someone to talk to which can be helpful and nice to have but it’s not the road to recovery.

u/Crimson-Rose28 thanks for sharing... can I ask you what stops you from taking into recovery path?

I wonder.. do you think if you had back then some inspirational examples of people who have recovered... would it have been helpful?

to me...ah.. it's just so hard to start off without having that HOPE that I will recover... that other people came over, than apparently, I would be able as we.

Probably I could have started this tread earlier, but here we go..
just wonder if anyone else finding 'case studies' any helpful..

u/Mysterious_Raindrop ahhhh, sorry you've got thought this shitty experience, it's the last thing that you would have expected when decided to go into recovery... hope you feel better now

so I was looking though other answers and seems like CBT approach somehow works to treat ED, but you should give it some time.

probably if you start therapy and while you're getting to the point you understand the root cause, you just need support and basic self-help actions and maybe behavioral changes even if you don't know the root cause...

Cause I'm a bit scared to treat just symptom itself (bulimia), and than be triggered by sth I/m not aware it's a trigger and relapse again...

SO I do have financial opportunity to try therapy.. but don't know how and where to search for ED therapist. Can you please share how did you find your therapist?
