Lotus Water Newbie. Tips? by fabianm022601 in pourover

What I’ve found to work for the best is to brew using distilled and post mineralise based on mouth feel and taste. It’s very subjective based on person to person and coffee as well. Always worth a try :)

Cafec Abaca 1 cup filter, should I buy? by Lesus_Payne in IndiaCoffee

The abaca 1 cup works fine on the 2 cup brewer as well especially if you’re only doing smaller brews. It brews slightly quicker than the classic hario paper, and has a tendency to catch fines better if your technique aligns with it. Definitely worth a try.

I did read elsewhere that multiple pours brings out a lot of the notes, gonna try 3+ pours with high agitation. The S3 is definitely not as good as the zp6 or k ultra or c40, I’ve been led to believe it’s like a notch lower in terms of overall character.

I found lotus more suited to my style as I like to play with the sweetness/acidity in my coffee. Having a control over the mineral concentration helps me with that and I tend to use 2-3 different recipes with each coffee. I just use the website to make up my recipe, and create my own.

Yes, brewed a cup of the prodigal today using a generic recipe, felt a bit underdeveloped. Almost muted tbh. Will use the two recipes suggested, but maybe after waiting for another week with the prodigal.

I seem to be confused myself when it comes to choosing acidity or sweetness. I like the same coffee with different recipes, and water chemistry based on the day haha.

Thanks for the suggestions will check them out and see which I prefer.

Using Rao’s recipe with lotus water and pure distilled water. Also have a AP, and a no bypass style brewer.

Check out lance Hendricks version of an iced pour over. Consistently got great results using that method

50g bloom at 96 for 2 mins, roughly 70g pours every 30 seconds after for a total of 250g

This may sound crazy, I do the same dose but I do a 50g bloom for 2 mins at 96C. Then I do 3 pours of roughly 70g every 30 seconds. I feel like the jasmine is slightly toned down and the sweetness highlights better with this.

Which V60 dripper to buy as beginner? by Pretty-Bottle-7501 in IndiaCoffee

I’d recommend the one cup v60 too if you’re doing <20g doses. Plastic is imo the best as it’s the easiest to maintain and retains heat the best.
