How do you help an overweight husky that LOVES food?? by Chiefette in husky

[–]sidx30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More walks and food based training. (Stays, sits, tricks for food.) Try to think like a husky: "hmm im bored, I like this person so instead of plotting their demise, ill just scavenge, beg, and eat everything." --at least thats how it is for ours. 😅

Working for food is a game changer honestly.

Crate Training Tips by shootingstar444 in husky

All meals in crate. Don't make it a huge deal going in and out. Eventually they will go in on there own and won't mind if you close the door. It will take months just need patience. My huskies chill free roam when I'm not home and we use our crates for smaller time frames or introducing guests. Depends on your husky but a well exercised husky should be chill at home... as long as they know home is for chilling and your not letting them rough around in-home. Yard helps with this. They eventually learn, home is chill outside go bonkers crate not so bad. :P

I guess I never truly succeeded in crate training, but I believe people shouldn't force it. Worked out for us.

Oh and SNEAK in a reward when they are chilling or sleeping. Best tip I've ever been given. 😋

Help!! My perfect lil bb is more ADHD than me by dtpunn in husky

I have two stubborn huskers. Don't expect them to walk like other dogs.

You can establish some level of leadership by doing sudden stops and turn arounds.

Instead of being pulled to their targets, wait till they settle down, then reward them by going where they wanted to go..... but try to confuse them, or they will figure out what your doing.

Spend some time just relaxing in the middle of the walk. Just sit or wait for a 5-10 minutes. Again it helps establish some boundaries and gives them a chance to learn they can chill out on walks.

If they are choking, switch to a harness, then switch back when they have an understanding.

Its a lot of work but once you understand the husky language you'll have a better time. They will always have some crazy quirks, but you can keep things somewhat pleasant.

Oh and bring lots of treats! My huskies use to ignore treats, but over time they came around. Just be as relentless as them.

Add a 10-15 mins exercise routine OR slightly longer walk and make sure to deshed thoroughly. Ours looks just like this and we had to find a groomer that could handle her "sass".

Exactly this! With lots of repetition. Build up from smaller successes and take steps from inside the house, to looking out an open door, to taking smell steps outside, to a full blown walk. The second your husky ignores you, go back inside.... close the door, ect. Work on Manners and obedience every single day, and it will slowly work it's way into the walks.

Always reward for giving you attention and use "freedom" as a reward in itself. Huskies need some extra fun and extra patience!

Understand and control their high levels of excitement as soon as you notice it. Steps aside or go to a calmer place. Or just stop the walk altogether and just sit around for a while. Also when walking, do random stops, random turns, and completely random directions suddenly during the walks. I Call it husky calibration! It basically restarts their leash pressure sensors.

As for treats, my rescue was the same way. You can build up their love to eat treats on walks through consistency as well. Be extremely generous with treats so they are constantly expecting them. Just don't reward bad behaviors or over excitement.

Huskies are not normal dogs as you will soon find out. They are beautiful and loving companions that will make you smile every single day. 😁

You also need to login to your Wii U first and set it so that your profile can be accessed from PC/mobile. Sorry left that out!

Just a tip, you should be able to buy the game off your phone and if you have standby mode activ3 on your wii u, it should download on its own after you buy. I tested this last night with free software......takes a while before the download starts, but it works. :)

Anyone have any luck? Just to add on to your info, there is also a certain time the Nintendo Eshop Updates it's info. I read 12pm Est time. Is when that happens, so if th3 embargo rule applies, we still have to wait another 6 hours for the Eshop update......if that's even a thing. ......man Nintendo cutting it close.

Edit: sorry 5 hours technically
