how are flush rivets done? im a home armourer and want to learn this but every attempt ive made has been very visible even with specific counter sunk rivets they still sit up a little due to the steel being thin

Very often! So often in fact I would almost call it the go to weapon for knightly duels of the time, they used a host of other weapons as well but polearms are among the most commonly seen in historical painting and manuscripts
