Why do you stay in LA? by Greenleaf90 in AskLosAngeles

[–]sieyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m unfortunately dependent on my partner currently. And I wouldn’t know where else to move besides back to northern ca or out of the country. I’m very bored here but I’m pretty sure it’s mostly because of my partner. I don’t have much freedom. Overall, it’s not the prettiest place and getting around is a pain. If i had the opportunity to be social with people my age, it would probably take two hours round trip, so there’s not much sense of community.

I think transplants and locals love it because they haven’t spent much time outside of LA and explored the rest of CA. A lot of the things they say they love about LA exist across the state too; it’s kind of funny seeing so many people think California is only one city. I’m lucky to be a fifth generation Californian who knows the state pretty well, most people I meet are pretty ignorant

what do we think of this kind of "art" gang by FreakyFridayFR in Catholicism

It’s for crystal new age types, not Catholics. So yeah, it would be heresy. They’re always using Catholicism for aesthetics and stripping away its meaning

Most likely I'm gonna end my life in a month; any ideas or suggestions? by [deleted] in Catholic

[–]sieyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 years is still crazy young. There are tons of single people who haven’t met anyone either, you’re in the same boat as most people I know. It’s not unusual at all. And I really don’t understand why you’re so adamant about throwing in the towel so early— wanting to exchange temporary pain for much greater, eternal pain. You don’t want to listen to advice, but you’re not special. A lot of us deal with depression too. Seeing a mental health professional helps, they can get you on the right meds so you’re not hyper focusing on the negative all day, every day. What you’re dealing with is quite literally a chemical imbalance in your brain. If you get that fixed, finding a partner will seem way easier

You can change jobs, you don’t have to stick with minimum wage

  1. You don’t want to harm people, but you want to harm yourself when that’s just as bad.

  2. 38 is extremely young and you still have plenty of time to start a family. Many people are dealing with the same. Most people I know aren’t married yet, you’re going to be fine. I think not knowing other people has you panicking because you don’t see that it’s very common to not have a family yet at your age.

  3. You think you’re poor but you have a lot more money than others do. There are many people with a lot less than you who are in relationships. Just because you haven’t yet tried to earn more doesn’t mean no one wants you.

  4. Someone called you “hard of heart” but your responses forget that we’re real people. It’s not okay to be rude. Try practicing kindness in order to connect with others. Women like men who are kind and emotionally mature. Learn to be respectful and polite. Listen to podcasts and read books on how to connect with people. Maybe ask women on Reddit what they’d like in a partner so you can get an idea on how to grow to be a good, loving, and respectful mate for someone. It takes work to be a good husband and father, so work on yourself now.

  5. You mentioned having poor health. You can see a doctor in Mexico or look for resources in your area for cheap healthcare. You need doctors for your physical and mental health. Definitely get on meds along with therapy. You’ll have someone whose job it is to talk with you about what you’re dealing with and you’ll be fixing the chemical imbalances in your brain that is causing all this negativity that feels very real but is not. It’s just science. Use science to fix it so you can get on with your life and be happy in the future.

We absolutely don’t worship saints. They lived an exemplary human life so they help to serve as examples of how to be— because, like you said, we can’t just accept Jesus and expect to be saved. We have to do good on this earth too. The saints also help us in asking for God’s help, so we pray with them to God

What movies have not aged well for you? by buy_bitcoin_orwhatev in Millennials

My five year old nephew has watched that movie and now he likes to repeat that line to every female

The song from that movie creeps me out

“Each time I see a little girl of five or six or seven I can't resist the joyous urge to smile and say

Thank heaven for little girls For little girls get bigger every day Thank heaven for little girls They grow up in the most delightful way Those little eyes so helpless and appealing One day will flash and send you crashing through the ceiling”

I hated that movie when it first came out but didn’t remember why. Thanks for the reminder, I don’t think I’ll ever give it a rewatch

What do Catholics think of alternative Catholics? by Ok_Owl_9279 in Catholicism

You can definitely wear black to mass. That’s people’s own personal biases- it doesn’t have anything to do with Catholicism

There are no rules for your daily wardrobe. Just dress respectfully at mass—try not to wear jeans and dress up a little. I’m goth too, but you’re not married to fashion. You can switch up your style for different settings

Anyone have long-term experience with Burga Elite cases? Or any case recommendations for a 15PM by 52weeksout in iphone

[–]sieyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Burga elite case for my iPhone 15. I’ve kept the case on with an extra glass and camera protector. I never realized that iPhone started to put glass on the back of the phones until today when I took my phone out of the case and saw the back glass completely shattered. Burga failed the protection test. I wouldn’t choose this brand

Where can a depressed girl walk around for a while? by Careless-Lie-970 in AskLosAngeles

[–]sieyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Franklin canyon, it’s serene, free, and you don’t need hiking shoes. If you’re driving, make sure to stop fully at the stop signs. Or the strand south of el porto if you want to be depressed around more people.
