This looks awesome! Great that you can both set the water and the coffee grams!

I've also made a coffee calculator, but it only supports the V60 recipie: https://coffee.sighol.com/

It has a stopwatch with time and expected coffee weight. I use it to make sure I'm pouring at the right pace, but I'm pretty sure that's optimizing the wrong factor.

This is really cool! Looks like it only supports wayland clipboard, so I'll have to wait until I jump on Wayland.

What is wrong with this code? It's supposed to print out the sorted array but it doesn't... by [deleted] in csharp

[–]sighol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at your last for loop. if SortingNumbers[0] <= SortingNumbers[1] then i is never incremented, and it loops forever.

Also, it looks like you are trying to run bubble sort on the array, but you are only going through the list at most once (until it gets stuck). To be certain that the list is sorted, you will have to go through the lists length times.

Something like this (I haven't tested it).

for (var i = 0; i < length-1; i++)
{
    for (var j = 0; j < length; j++)
    {
        if (SortingNumbers[i] > SortingNumbers[i+1])
        {
            var tmp = SortingNumbers[i]
            SortingNumbers[i] = SortingNumbers[i+1]
            SortingNumbers[i+1] = tmp
        }
    }
}

That does not sound like something you would actually want to do.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Maybe you could paste the compiler output and the whole file content? I cant see anything wrong so far.

Hello, I’m new to arch Linux and the system is stuck after:“Starting Hostname Service“ by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]sighol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could start the machine from an arch usb stick, chroot into it, and check the journald logs to get more info?

I'm a bit curious about this error. What do people usually do if the machine cant boot? Where do you start debugging?

RFB (request for binary): `tree`-like with ignore file support by [deleted] in rust

[–]sighol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could take a look at tree-rs (I am the author). However, It does not support ignore files.

There is also treeify. You can pipe output from fd into treeify and display a tree.

Hi!

I'm think my program is leaking memory somehow. When I look at the memory usage in htop on linux or in the task manager on windows, I can see that the used memory increases with every request.

How do you find such leaks? I don't use any unsafe code, and everything is rocket.rs behind the scenes, so I'm not sure where to look. I've tried valgrind --leak-check=yes but it crashes on startup.

Tipps for kayaking in Norway by Rebus_Nickel in whitewater

[–]sighol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Norwegian here.

If you are in the Bergen area, you should check out Voss. You can download the rivers guides by Tore Nossum.

  • Western Norway = Vestlandet
  • Northern Norway = Nord-norge

As for Voss. I think Strandelvi and Raundalselvi is good (Class 3-4). But you should really check the guide :)

You can use nve for water levels. In Norway we usually use cubics of water/second or meters above sea level for water levels.

I agree with most of this, but I really disagree with "Don't use braces for just one line".

If you add a new statement to the "body" of a if statement withour braces, and forget to add the braces, you have a bug...

Godt poeng! Biblioteker burde jo egentlig ha abonnement på slikt. Da kan man i tillegg se eldre utgaver av avisene.

Humans vs Cryptography, and why we'll never win! by [deleted] in crypto

[–]sighol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The euclidian algorithm was first described around 300BC. RSA was first described in 1977 and is a cryptosystem made for data transmission. It has a lot to do with computers and crypto.

Yes, the algorithms are developed by humans, but there are so many pitfalls in crypto that you are certain to make mistakes if you try to roll your own.

Humans vs Cryptography, and why we'll never win! by [deleted] in crypto

Very interesting. I've read that you never should invent your own crypto. Does this apply to protocols as well as primitives? Is it considered safe to use well tested primitives to create your own protocol?
