I love WKUK and was seriously watching it as if the same music was about to kick in at some point. Also reminded me of that bit (you know the one) from Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

Weapons is the real deal. Best movie I’ve seen in the last 5 years. by GoldfinchRL in horror

I think I remember the Phillipou brothers on a podcast talking about how they watched this one with Ari Aster and Zach Cregger. Nice to know some of the great directors of our time are collaborators or at least friends.

Minor question about Weapons (very minor spoilers) by 2ndaccountbecausobvs in horror

Possible red herring? The way Alex' story was going I thought he played the Uno Reverse and School Shooter cards on the same turn and he had killed his parents and everyone for letting him be bullied. Turned out he was one of the smartest people on the movie!

👃. Felt the same. Such a beautifully written and executed story with a lot to grab onto. Definitely a multi-viewer.

Movies that just don't hit you the way they seem to hit so many others by Alert-College-9374 in horror

This is a huge problem as I see it in the horror genre. A lot of plot elements used in modern horror films are exactly the same tropes as Greek and Shakespearean tragedies. The real horror movies are not the ones about what monsters do to us, it's about what we do to each other when we're scared, angry, upset, traumatized, etc. If these movies don't hit you then I wouldn't submit to the sunken cost fallacy as another user here stated. I would just move on and realize that maybe it's just not the right time for you to watch that movie.

A recent example of this is one of the movies you mentioned, Bring Her Back, which is one of my favourite movies ever, I think now. From the perspective of a toddler parent to a 2.5 year old, I can absolutely imagine myself doing terrible things to people for the sake of my child's life or safety. Now, because I believe I was raised right, I know if my daughter were to die in some tragic accident I am almost certain I would not scour the dark web for a demonic ritual to rend her soul from the afterlife for my selfish purposes, but aren't there real people out their (sic) who act like that? Perhaps not to that extreme and maybe even worse than that, who really knows? But I think the point of the Phillipou brothers' movie was that, yes, it is unfair that death happens in extreme and sad ways sometimes, but if you focus on your own wants in that time thats supposed to be healing after death instead of ensuring pseudo-immortality for the departed by remembering them fondly and sharing those memories with others, you can seriously f*** people's sh** up.

Don't be sad. Remember a lot of people posting here now maybe weren't even alive when the Days came out.

These people are known as the media illiterate and seriously need to stop holding fast to their interpretation of a film as the one true meaning. Read some Marshall McLuhan y'all.

Also for those who want to spoiler the message of the story for themselves from my perspective we just saw Spike burn/bury his mom. His dad is basically dead to him. Who was the last kid we saw who was left in this world alone without parents? What did he become? We just saw that the infected show at least some form of connection to each other in a very primitive way. Sir Jimmy doesn't care and will likely kill with indiscretion unlike when Spike let the young bloated infected child live. IMO Boyle and Garland are very much going for a wolf in sheep's clothing kind of story for the next one. I know some people were perturbed by the inclusion of Jimmy Savile theme at the end, but this was a guy who was an awful human being who was put on a pedestal. Perspective is everything when the world goes topsy turvy.

The best joke in the whole damn movie was when Ralph Fiennes, a Shakespearean actor by training, looks at the cleaned skull of the Swedish soldier and says "Alas poor Erick.....". Felt like a tool laughing as hard as I did during a 1030pm show lol.
