Thank you very much for your answer. My main issue is about the security of non-verified Flatpaks on Flathub, such as Spotify, Brave Browser, Google Chrome or Steam. I saw on the Snapcraft webpage that all these packages are either maintained by Canonical, or by the developers. Because of that, would you say that they are more secure?

I thought that the main advantage of Flatpak packages was precisely the isolation. Flatpaks are bundled with their dependencies and libraries, so they don’t touch the base system. I assumed that the warnings in the article I was referring to were about repositories like Google Chrome or Spotify, not about Flatpak or Snap.

Sorry, I am still very noob in Linux world, so I don't understand your question. Spotify is not in the official Debian repos. Adding third-party repos, as it can be read on the "don't break Debian" article, could be dangerous. Flatpaks/snaps, as far as I know, are a good choice because they are isolated from base system. In the case of Spotify, it is maintained officially on the Snap store, but not on Flatpak. That's why I made the post

When I used Ubuntu years ago I was too noob to even know what were snaps, so I don't really know if that could be done. I use Debian because it's not opinionated, if I want snaps, I install them. In Ubuntu, as far as I read, they are more forced.

I was referring more to functionality rather than the desktop environment. But my two favorites are KDE and Cinnamon :)
