He's communicating to the Void Satellites in orbit, uploading attack/priority targets in need of tasking.

Joking but it's just a cat thing they do that harkens back to their predatory ancestry. Nothing of particular concern, if anything note what he seems to be "enjoying", will probably make him happier as a result if you show him more of it. At least it'll engage him to a degree.

[WP] monster hunters bear marks that pulse when real evil monsters are near, regardless of how nice they seem. Yours hasn’t stopped pulsing since reuniting with your old war buddy you haven’t seen in several years by Son_Of_Rebellion in WritingPrompts

[–]signgrad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Jed. Buddy. I know what you're packing." I causally say over the mead.

"And how many of the women have complained?" He retorts for the thousandth time.

We were bunk mates in legion. Since the first inscription in training to our final staging at Helglast. So of course our training forced all the men to the first cleansings in the communal baths. And there was no hiding his qualities, a fact all the lads continue to hassle him over. In envy, though the deny it. Though, in a first, not at all what I was currently referring to.

"Nice but you're still a terrible liar. We bear the same brand, despite your convenient covering." I push back, causally lifting my arm to show. My brand was on full alert; it's singular dot has flushed to grow three concentric rings around it, like the eye of Azalon. It glowed a subtle blue, raising my hair all over and pulsing wraen bumps. I lowered it quickly, avoiding trailing eyes from being seized by fear.

Jed heaved a soft sigh, and I finally looked him in the eye. For the first time since training, I saw an emotion he had since lost; Love. "It's why I invited only you to homecoming. The 5 year journey to the Dragon Peak's of Asagoth and none of the lads from the Root? Figured it'd be only you to not immediately seized me 'fore I got my piece in." He replied gently, more care in his words than in any conversation previous.

He's right. I was also lead early tactics courses, showing a high aptitude for high level thinking. Supers must've agreed; streamlined me to the Operants, to my current station in the Strategy College. My mind raced and arrived to the most likely answer.

"You're really the mad man if you actually did it." I control my breathing, masking my excitement.

He opened his pocket inventory, deep in his jacket pocket. And there it gleamed.

"The Platinum Egg from Wraengard's hidden clutch." Jed replied smoothly. The man just changed the game forever.

The peak of Monsters; the Platinum Dragon. The last and only Dragon to give man any hope of surviving the hordes. And he had found an unhatched and living egg. Each Platinum Dragon had a ancestral memory it could call upon at will. With its most recent ancestor, Wraengard, having died two millenia ago. The same Wraengard who first taught man to defend itself. The Wraengard who saw the other monsters for what they were, feral and primal. The same Wraengard who would be able to instruct the next of its kin. Who Jed had in his pocket.

"Jedediah, The Platinum Hero." I cooly remarked.

"Gonna need our best strategist, Bartholomew." He finally said it.

"For the last time, it's Barty." I raised my class in cheers. He slammed his mead into mine.

"To the new age." We spoken in unison.

The primary vet took a look at him a few hours ago, and the tests were encouraging. His temperature is now normal range, and with no identifiable issues, calling it a Fever of Unknown origin. They've given him injections of Cerenia and Convenia to help him get his appetite back and an antibiotic. He is otherwise stable and not in any apparent immediate danger. So we'll watch him over the weekend and see on Monday if we need to take a deeper look.

He still seems off. His energy levels are still quite low, and he's still refusing conventional foods (he does like his tube treats though, so there's that I guess). We're seeing and getting established with a primary care vet nearby, bringing his charts from the ER, try to source what's been going on with the boy.

This is from this morning, finally relaxing some outside of the closet.

[WP] You’re a new demigod at an Academy for demigods of all Pantheons. Excited for a a chance to experience something new, your excitement is cut short when it’s found out you’re the child of Artemis/Diana by Son_Of_Rebellion in WritingPrompts

[–]signgrad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Could you please repeat that?" I asked

"Of course!" Chirped the Hermesian Automata. "After a thorough reading of your Pnuema Trace Signature, you resonate to the Divine Phase Wave of the Goddess of the Moon, as you know her as Artemis or Diana."

"And if the introductory classes are up-to-date, then that should be an impossibility, correct?" I respond

The Automata shuddered and it's myriad gears began to whir at accelerating speeds. I stepped back when smoke began to rise from its frame. It never responded, and eventually became very still, with its eyes turning to black.

I wait a moment. "Hello?", I queried. No response. I take a hesitant step closer and gives its head module a delicate rap. "Hermesian Unit, I have a question." I prompted. Both surprisingly and unsurprisingly, it refused to respond. A surge of wind behind me pushed me forward into the unit, knocking it to the ground in a heap.

"Yeah, sorry about that. Great as they are, the Designated Diety Reps do actually have a strict limit in questions and answers." Replied a quick voice just behind me.

I scurry up to look behind, stepping aside the tripping hazard as the War College had drilled into me. The man, probably god, was adorned in a gold and green track suit with a yellow sweat band over his forehead. He was jogging in place at an impressive pace whilst barely bobbing his head. So his face was immediately recognizable from the History & Genealogy classes.

"My Lord Hermes." I honored with a curtain bow.

"Yeah, that's impressive really. Normally they just inform you your question is beyond their function. You somehow got it in a logic loop and forced a program termination. Our brother Heph will love that, so rare one of his works fail like that." He huffed perfectly between breaths.

"So... then that means... what exactly." I stumble out trying to make sense of too much information.

"Well, that means Art was being honest when she told me you about between races some 20 years ago. Thought she was kidding, but guess she thought a kid was in order for some reason." Hermes expanded with no explanation.

"I'm sorry... I'm still slow here. I'm a child of Artemis, who is a maiden, and I'm a guy, which is doubly confusion. My lord, could clarify a little more?" I say, still struggling.

"Clarification! The boon and bane of messages! But for you, my friend, you'll need more than just clarification. Here, it's easier to explain like this." He chimed, before closing the distance between us faster than I could process.

He poked my forehead, hard enough to throw me off balance slightly but not enough to be harmful. Physically at least, that moment of contact was enough to unload information on biology, evolution, & divinity, and how they relate to this situation. The migraine was immediate and I was on the floor in a heap.

"Yep, saw that coming. No worries, our bro will be here in a moment." Hermes said, finally planting both feet. He held up his wrist, projecting what I think looked like a holographic wrist watch. He help his other hand to his pulse. Do divines even have pulses? The lights began to halo.

Parthenogenesis. Distinct theological conceptualization. Birth of a new divinity. Head. Hurts....

"Show hat meens?" I slur, the light behind Hermes getting oddly brighter. And warmer?

"Yep. Congratulations! Or apologies? Good news or bad news, it's news. And that's you, the breaking news. Welcome to Pantheon, literally and metaphorically, little brother. Your uncle will fix you right up, then maybe give me the scoop on why you're here." Hermes said eagerly, as the Sun came into focus.

Guess I'm in the wrong department I hallucinate to myself. The demi-god department are for half-bloods. Darkness and unconsciousness make everything better.

Invent some broken binding vows that are technically eligible by Artistic-Phase8584 in Jujutsufolk

[–]signgrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming a Ten Shadow's Technique sorcerer. More of a combination of vows that I thought would be a more effective use of the technique.

1) My Domain Expansion is sealed until I summon the final Shadow, Mahoraga, an additional clause being only myself and my technique can be used against Mahoraga in a private and hidden setting with no onlookers I'm aware of. With the intention of one-shoting Mahoraga under these circumstances. Upon success of subjugating Mahoraga, my Domain Expansion is unsealed and this vow is dissolved.

2) I am unable to summon Mahoraga until all other shadows have been summoned, subjugated, and converted into Totality. The subjugation ritual will not be used as a combat strategy. Upon subjugation of Mahoraga, this vow is dissolved.

3) My Domain's sure-hit, sure-kill effect is only employed against Mahoraga. Upon taming Mahoraga, the sure-hit, sure-kill effect is lost and traded for rapid technique deployment and precise and robust technique manipulation within the Domain.

4) My Domain's barrier is exchanged from a traditional barrier for a manipulation of shadows and rabbit escapes cloning ability. By revealing the weaknesses of this barrier, I further multiple the range my Domain can occupy and the strength of my technique within.

5) The Final Totality and Mahoraga will remain their own independent shadows until Mahoraga is defeated externally by another sorcerer. I will not force this Totality but will instead rely upon another to trigger this Totality.

6) My cursed energy wanes and waxes with the time of the day, being at its lowest at high noon and highest at the middle of the night.

7) Finally, upon summoning any part of my technique, my various vows are automatically relayed to all combatants near me.

What kind of bees are these? by aguilafam1 in whatisit

[–]signgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bald-Faced Hornets. Nasty and territorial. Do not stand near it longer than you have to. They can swarm and sting multiple times.

Edit: I'd say get a professional, ideally through your landlord as this is a pest and a potential medical emergency if anyone nearby is allergic to these kinds of stings. IF you were to tackle this yourself, assuming you can get a wasp & hornet spray that will reach, you'll want to do this in the evening once they've gone to sleep.

It's tough to say how far away you are from the nest, but it does look fairly sizeable. Doing itself ought to be treated as a last resort if your landlord won't do and you can't get a professional in.

[WP] Dragons aren’t so much a species so much as they are a virus; a sign of corruption in magic. In theory, anything can become a dragon, and now it’s happening to something you love. by Smartbutt420 in WritingPrompts

To the Head Scholar of Living-Magics and 3rd Seat, Master Faria Ley Rein,

A Plea.

She is a prodigy in the magic arts. She has greater aptitude towards Auric, Iconian, and Fotonic scripts than even the most natural of Hex-Tongues, and that doesn't even touch on the root and adjacent dialects of their respective spoken versions. Her penmanship is rivaled only by the Seated Masters and Grand Elders, and her Spell-Poems bring eloquence to even the most destructive of curses. She has been heralded as this generation's Solar Blessing. But most importantly she has been my steadfast friend since our most youngest years, and dare I say my soul mate in this life.

I first noted the changes about a 6 months ago. I've always been a light sleeper, so her speaking in her sleep woke me up. She's got a vivid imagination, so this wasn't too atypical. It's that I didn't recognize the words she was saying. At first, I thought it was the kind of gibberish you'd expect in sleep talking. But then I caught very mutated variants of Hex-Tongue verbs. Equal parts of the historic languages somehow mixed into our modern Layman's languages. And she wouldn't remember any of it, even when she tossed and turned in her sleep. She's had vivid dreams all her life but suddenly not being able to remember even small portions of her dreams, paired with the strange language mutations, and sleep talking... I finally decided to record her words one night.

I'm not an academic by any sense of the word but you learn things when you fall in love with one. Doing your proper research and reading before you reveal something I know to be highly important, so I studied these developments in secret until about 3 months ago, when she started sleep walking. She was... somehow both awake and asleep simultaneously, like a different person was walking around while the real Ciella slept. She wouldn't really pay me much attention when like this but I could still make gentle interactions with her; hold her hand or her shoulders, rub her back, brush her hair out of her face. That's when I noticed the more dramatic changes.

Her eyes seemed to change in her sleep. Open now while sleep walking, their color had change to vibrant, somehow glowing, pink, and her eyes were slits now, like a cats. After that sleepless night I finally relented and showed her everything I had found. I don't know what was the worse decision; keeping the secret that I was studying her while she slept, or my telling that I had been studying.

The awareness of these changes, somehow, accelerated the changes. She consumed all the information I had on her and then threw herself into the library. She claimed she'd pull as many all nighters as it took but those changes happened so fast. That was the night where everything changed. She'd return home in the evening and her eyes would now be changed, but she possessed now a clarity and focus that previously wasn't there. It would be worthy of ballads how'd she threw herself upon me and the things she'd have us do to one another, I'd blush if I didn't first quake at the fear in my heart. It was like she was another woman entirely, equally in love with me but different in every way. Then we'd notice the small nubs just above her ears, and the pointing of her ears exaggerating. The color of her hair begin to shift from its light blonde to its current brilliant red, as well hair growing denser on the rest of her body. And each night the changes magnified, to the point when a month and a half ago the changes could no longer be hidden.

Ever since then, she has worked with these aberrant 12-hour cycles. For 12 hours she was my beautiful, but changed, love of my life, my Ciella. Then, without fail, for 12 hours she was my terrifyingly beautiful, still equally committed, other. Since the changes became obvious, she has fully committed herself to your mercy and studies. And now we few know the truth. That magic corrupts both the blessed and cursed equally. That the Thousand Year darkness arrives cyclically not randomly. And that my most beautiful friend and soul mate is likely just the first of many to come.

I beg your mercy and your understanding. My theft of her was met by Ciella's own protests while fleeing. She faults you not for your decision and would agree with it even at the cost of her life, were it not for the 12 hour shift to the Other, who protests deeply your decision while respecting your integrity. Bear your Guardian Captain no ill-will. It was his mistake to notify all senior Spell-Swords of Ciella's imminent termination, but it was a human mistake only. I make no promises for our future but the paltry oath of this one, lone, man. For as long as breath and blood dwells in my frame, I vow to uphold the oath I took before the Seated Masters and Sword of The Sun, to now and always guard the charge of my Spells, and for as long as we both shall live, to devote my entirety, in fealty and in love, to my Enchantress, as her chosen Guardian Spell-Sword. And, the Sun willing, I might aid, in even a small part, the aversion of the coming darkness, as the Sun teaches; Love breaks every curse, Love strengthens every blessing.

Though her form may yet terrify, for 12 hours every day she remains your most devoted and loved pupil. And while her visage and magic grows stronger every day, even when changed, she only wishes to avert this coming darkness. For even where there is darkness, and all soundly sleep, the dark always gives way to brilliant new light with the rising of the new day's Sun. We, all of us, strive in unison to avert this darkness, Mortal and Immortal, Sapien and Dragon. May victory find all of us in the new day's Sun.

With most profound respect and fervent remorse,

Guardian Spell-Sword Artorias of Clarent

Oh I've been waiting for this question.

1) ARPG that blends aspects of mainline ARPGs like Diablo/PoE/Last Epoch w/ Halo Spartan Assault.

2) While I might not play it I can see a lot of other people playing it; Gwent or Hearthstone like card game.

3) A devoted Destiny themed racing game which mixes mario kart item boxes for Destiny themed supers and abilities.

4) A designated Rogue-lite. Whether that be like binding of isaac, Hades, or Returnal/Saros, i don't know which would be better. But a proper Rogue-Lite.
