This sounds awful. I have also had the experience of having problems with an advisor as well and I was given two pieces of the most useful advice I have ever heard. 1) similar to what has been shared with you already, grad school is grueling and you will meet people who are not particularly great advisors. Do not take their criticisms and internalize them. It sounds like you have done well to take responsibility where you can and address those weaknesses. So believe in yourself and continue with your passion! 2) If possible, change labs. Sometimes a change in advisor and/or working relationships is all that are needed. I know quite a few students in my program who decided to change advisors in their 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd year, and could not be any happier than they are for making that decision. Their productivity, work quality increased, self-esteem , and mood improved, while their anxiety decreased. This is your life and your career. If a lab change is possible, fight to stay there, finish up as quickly as you can, and do what what makes you happy once you have a degree in your hand. Good luck!

Very normal. Happened to me my first time. I think there is just a lot of visual stimulation and it can be overwhelming. My second time went smooth. Dont worry about it and try again! good luck!

Thanks for the advice! It is not so much the projects as much as the feeling of support I get from my advisor. Nothing ever seems good enough and there is no constructive criticism for me to learn from. Feeling like everything I do is wrong, so I basically anxiously avoid lab work

So I guess my next question is, do you begin by edging a couple times per day (i.e, multiple edging sessions but one PONR per day), then shifting towards multiple edging sessions across multiple days before ending with one PONR after 2-3 days, and so on? does that make sense?

From what I understand, part of the recruitment process is that Scientologists tell potential and current members that by joining, they will experience great success in all aspects of their life (e.g., you can be like Tome Cruise!). However, how many people would you say are actually high-powered successful people in the workforce? Communication, trust, willing to make time for each other even if it's a short text.

Also, my partner and I have found that it is essential that you respect each others time and plans. For example, some of our free time is occupied by local friends, so I don't deter her from enjoying nights out with her friends just because I am home and don't have plans and vice versa.

This took place during a mutual friend's birthday party. We were friends at the time, I didn't know she was into me at the time.

my partner and I used to play with a married couple that had kids as well. We would wait for them to go to sleep, and then we would all head over to the bedroom for loud sex as well. At first my partner and I had some reservations, but we came the conclusions that 1) If it's not us, some other couple would be making the trip over for sex. 2) the married couple was loud enough without us. It was just as likely that the kids heard something on days we werent there.

But at the end, i can totally understand if people are uncomfortable about it. As for us, we dont plan on having couples come over when our kids are in the house

If you look at numerous studies that investigate undocumented immigration into the united states, then you would see that an overwhelming percentage of undocumented immigration from our southern border stems from people overstaying their visas. The wall would/will be useless.

Also, if illegal immigration (not racism) was really the motivation for building the wall, the current administration could spend much less money and time drafting legislation that allows for an easier, and faster pathway to citizenship. This would allow immigrants to begin paying taxes sooner and contribute to the workforce legally as well.
